I think it's a shame what's happened to the series due to the change of team. Everyone but the producer went on to make Sunshine (which I've yet to watch even though I have it) and the producer stayed behind.
Sure it was okay. I'm not completely bashing this movie, but in no way do I nor any of my friends consider it a "masterpiece" and definitely not on the same scale as Candyman or Taxi Driver.
Er...what? So you think that by liking this this ( not seen it yet myself ) those people are not a true cinema lover? Then your quite mad. So it might not be a masterpeice but christ on a bike, there are way worse films that people can like and still be considered a fan. The only film critic I pay any attention to is Mark Kermode ( a great UK critic with an excellent podcast http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/entertainment/kermode.shtml ). Whilst he said it wasn't as good as 28 Days, it was still very good. He is absolutely a cinema fan and knows more about cinema than you'll ever know, so sorry my cinema loving friend but your so wrong.
I enjoyed this one. It does have some heard-it-a-million-times action movie dialogue in it--"Lock and load!", "Man, this is FUBAR!" etc., and the main army hero figure is mildly one-dimensional, but it was often very effective. Robert Carlisle was very good; the scene where he gets infected in the room with his wife is horrifying and unforgettable.
Yes, the "you are there seeing it happen RIGHT NOW" shaky camera stuff is losing its zing at this point. But it's still used to good effect in quite a few places in this movie. I saw it once, enjoyed it, and probably won't see it again for a few years, at least...but was worth the $8 IMO. Definitely rent it if you have any interest..

Agreed. What people have been misinterpreting or what I've not stated well is: - The movie BY ITSELF is not terrible, just filled with predictability and cliches - Compared to the first I think it's terrible as they went from suspense/horror to action flick
I loved the first, but I was disappointed with the sequel. I guess I just didn't find anything interesting in it other than the way the virus survived. Other than that, I thought it introduced way too many predictable moments.
Didn't read the other posts because I don't want my opinion to be biased. This movie rocked my socks off. Just saw it last night. I liked it better than 28 days later. No punches were pulled. The dad gouging his wife's eye out! Oohh, gross. The whole thing just felt so ominous. You don't get that feeling in lesser schlock, let's say, Resident Evil. The firebombing of London. Nasty, nasty, nasty. This movie way exceeded my expectations.
