This movie was pretty good. I want to know what you thought about it. I accually loved it. Umm I thought certain parts freaked me, ecpecially in the theaters. But tell me what you though t.
I loved this movie, up until the alien showed up. Nothing is scarier than the human imagination. Filmmakers need to realize that not knowing what is out there is much scarier than a CG alien running around. But for the most part this was a cool flick. I absolutely loved the music. James Newton howard used the same basic three notes to give us a family of different feelings. And Mel was fantastic as always.

I also very much enjoyed the flick. I didn't mind so much about the alien at the end (although I agree with you about the imagination Jakal). If I recall, I don't think it was CG, which at least gave it a more "realistic" feeling. I am just such a huge fan of Shayamalan that I will go see anything he puts out because he, like hitchcock in his day, is using real life situations that we can all relate to and showing us how scary or fantastic they can be. Now...on to the Village.

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
I generally disliked it. I just didn't like the idea of low-tech aliens. They weren't even that scary. You can't really have an excellent PG-13 horror movie just too hard.

Did you really not feel some kind of shiver when that thing was in their corn field or that whack thing jumped around their roof? I also liked the trapped thing in Ray's house. I admit that it bit off WAY more than it could chew, but compared to the average slice-and-dice, it was empathic, humorous and suspenseful. I do wish "Shy" could write a complete script because he's a good director.

I didnt like the movie greatly either. I was slightly scared in the corn field and the roof ect. but when they showed the alien at the end in the house. It just... well it just wasnt good. The alien was just funny and stupid looking. I dont think I can be any more articulate than that.

I really didn't leave the theater feeling I had viewed a horror flick. There was an element of fear in the movie, but for me it was our fear of the mystery that shrouds our existence. For Gibson's character it was the fear of uncertainty as to whether God existed or not; and if God did: "Did God care about what happens to us?" Are we alone living in total unpredictability? Is our life nothing more than a series of random events? Then there was the more overt fear in the movie of having to recognize our human frailty. What if there is life greater than us in the cosmos? What does that say about the way we live denying our vulnerability? We can always fix the problems we create, or confront, right? The deeper themes of this movie made it worth viewing. As a horror movie it was disappointing. As a movie forcing us to face tough questions, it had merit.
Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!

Signs' ending certainly reinforced Gibson's character to once again believe in God and to believe that he will see his wife in the Afterlife. Maybe a little schematic but heartfelt just the same.

After all this time, I recall that this movie wasn't scary for me and it wasn't much of a horror flick. The sci fi element seemed almost 1950ish and retro to the point of oh hum... The movie didn't really do much for me. I was disappointed. The next movie, The Lady in the Water so far is being presented strictly as a horror movie with more more and effects than anything else. If there is a twist as part of this movie, it will put the director under a lot of pressure to succeed. This is sort of a make or break movie for him.
