Okay, I just saw a trailer for a new chucky. And I would just like to say that it makes my stomach churn with hatred for the entire series. How many sequels does Chucky need? Doesn't he die in almost everyone? It is like when they killed Spiderman and then he was resurrected in the comic books. Will there be no end to the horror that is another bad Chucky movie??

I've hated every chucky so far. I've found none of them scary in the slightest bit. I seriously thought they were more of a comedy than a horror movie. Now they're making a new one, that disgusts me.

Why the hell would it disgust you? NOBODY takes a chucky movie seriously (except maybe me when I saw the first one around the age of 10), and after Bride of Chucky, how could you not be salivating? They're all B-movies with black comedy, and are generally hilarious. Brad Dourif is the reason chucky is so popular, he's made a frggin icon of a doll. I'll agree and say most chucky films were bad (especially 3-it took itself seriously and was near unwatchable), but they all have something to laugh about. Better to have a Chucky sequel than a Halloween sequel in my book. Michael Myers has lost any ounce of creepiness he had after 7 abysmal sequels. Bar number 3, that was pretty original and had the balls not to use Myers. You lot won't agree probably, but i'd prefer a long worn wisecracking doll killer than a long worn out silent killer anyday.

And by the way, don't ever try to apply logic to Childs play movies. Applying logic to a horror film is like taking a vampire sunbathing-they both shrivel up in the cold light of day. Chucky dies in every movie, just like EVERY other horror icon that got past the first film. When this happens, it helps to chuckle.

quote:Originally posted by Soadlover: Yes they are funny. However, these are "Supposedly" horror movies not comedies. The movies are bad horrors and below average comedies.
It's called B-movie campiness and it is very funny whether it is intentional or not. Sure, it's primary genre is not "comedy" but neither was "Showgirls" and THAT was a FUNNY movie!!
I wouldn't go comparing Bride of Chucky to any of the Childs Play movies. You can see the exact point where they said: "Fuck it, this 'toy comes alive' horror aspect isn't working. Lets just take the bad-ass doll, give him a wife, and let them go on a fequently bloody and amusing spree". Which worked so well and was seen by so many, it merited a sequel.
Whether or not the sequel is any good remains to be seen, but I do know that it's marketed as a horror and not a comedy because horror's typically make the most money. Tis always gonna be the way.

It has come to my attention that John Waters is in the new one. Really now, anything that he puts to is obviously a trash comedy, and one not to be missed. Chucky movies have never done me wrong and have played for so long off the irony that a childs toy is a killer, its refreshing to see the COMEDIC side of it. Calling the originals "camp" is going a little far, but they were definitely some of the good ol' horrors. I think the Bride and the Seeds have kind of started their own little genre...
I loved all the chucky movies the only one what let me down was the bride of chucky, anyways ill get to the point the reason why the chucky movies are not as good as the childsplay ones is because they were to violent and number 1 and 3 were banned but have now been bought out again, so to save them from getting banned once again they have tryed doing less killings, comendy in, and when i watched seed of chucky i laughed in most bits.
