I know we're not supposed to reveal any spoilers, but since nobody cares, here goes. Rory Calhoun plays Farmer Vincent, aka Farmer John. His meats ARE REEEEL GOOD!!! The scenes where the vocal chords are cut, the tractors do wheelies, and the chainsaw duel are beyond the pale, in a good way.

My mom actually suggested I rent this a year ago or so (I was looking for some camp horror in the Evil Dead vein). I thought this was pretty good. Parts were hilarious, although parts of it were a tad too dated/weird for my tastes...

RayRay, maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I saw this at a theatre in 1980. So much, for you can't believe... I used to see all kinds of things from 1975-1983 because it was part of my job. Check out my intro in that section. I wish someone could comment about my babbling about The Exorcist/ Rosemary's Baby/ The Innocents in the horror section. This is some serious shit. Don't ignore or dis it because some "old" fart made cracks about "old" movies. I know lots of "youngsters" who enjoy (is that the right word?) these movies, but only because I babbled about them.

Well, let's not mix apples and oranges. "Clowns" is good because it's intentionally ridiculous (at least I think it is.) "Hell" is a "legitimate" flick, at least mostly, so I guess that puts it somewhere else, although the makers KNEW parts of it were funny. I have a friend who saw a press-screening, and he told me 1/3 of the reviewers walked out at the vocal chord scene. So what do you think about its street cred? Does that make it "better" or "worse"?

I got the feeling from the tagline is wasn't meant to be as serious as it played out. "It takes all kinds of critters to make farmer vincents fritters!" I liked that one. As far as cheese goes though, it's not a patch on Killer Klowns from Outer Space, or Story of Ricky.
