Question:
I liked the Hannibal movies, mostly because of Hannibal for he is a great villain. But I really only liked silence of the lambs and thought it to be the only good one. I'm curious to know if people agree with me and what people think of the series and what they like the best.

I agree. Silence of the lambs was the only movie worth seeing in the series. Hannibal was horrible and red dragon was only slightly better.

I did vote for "Silence of the Lambs" since I think that's a no-brainer, even though I had some major problems with the logic of the actual ending, but otherwise it's top-notch. Now, I have a few other comments to make.

Why isn't "Manhunter", the first Hannibal film, in the poll? It was later remade as "Red Dragon." I guess I actually liked all the Hannibal films, although I didn't bother to see the last two in the theatres. I was VERY surprised how much I liked "Hannibal." It's basically a black comedy, and that ending with Hannibal and Ray Liotta's character sitting at the dinner table is about as "black" as any "funny" scene I've ever seen. I also thought "Red Dragon" was pretty pumped up, considering I'd already seen Michael Mann tell the same story 16 years earlier, only with Brian Cox as Hannibal.

Mark, I'm surprised you liked Hannibal as much as you did. It just seemed to not have much of a plot to my taste. I understand where you can get the comedy but really it seemed so unrealistic and after seeing silence of the lambs, I just got dissapointed. I didnt put manhunter because it was a much smaller movie than the other three and I thought many people would not be as familiar with the title as the others.

I am also surprised Mark. To me, Hannibal was just a tour of Italy for the first half. Some things should be left alone, and Silence is one of them.

As for Manhunter, I loved it. Sure it is a little dated, but it was a well-made film. (Michael Mann is also my favorite dir.)

They REALLY need to remake hannibal and silance of the lambs...who agrees...?

I don't know about hannibal because the plot in my opinion wasnt that great, so I can't imagine a remake being much better. I also don't know about silence of the lambs because it was only made 10 years ago which isnt old and it was a great movie so I can't imagine a remake being better. Not only that but Anthony Hopkeins is old now so its not as good.

The last 20 minutes of the film are sickening, disgusting and just plain grosse ! Just thinking about it....yerk!

I think that all of the movies were okay. But I have a bias opinion due to the fact of reading all three of the books. They ruined the ending of Hannibal though. I thought that they did an average job with red dragon
