Has anyone seen Ghost Ship?? I'm watching it right now on late night cable, and it features one of the most horrifying uses of high tension ship lines I've ever seen.

Basically, during a large "dance" on the main deck of the ship, a line gets caught on something and when it is pulled loose, it whips across the dance floor at about 3 feet, slicing up about 70 people directly through their waists. Nobody moves for a few seconds, and torsos start dropping slowly onto the deck!! Nasty!!!

Very gross, but very original!

Or how about 'Ghost S*#t?"

Didn't we see someone get cut in half by a cable on a ship in Die Hard 3?

Did anybody see "Damien: Omen II". I certainly don't recommend it because the characters all act in completely brain-dead ways, but I think it's the first "mainstream" movie where somebody got cut in half on screen (in an elevator!) What SM was talking about obviously was done on a much-larger scale.

There was also a guy who gets cut in half in Interview With The Vampire and Johnny Mnemonic...and Underworld if I remember correctly!

Ghost Ship Was Gory And In My Opinion Made Up For A Dodgy Story With A Great Ending.
Obvious But Great!

Ghost Ship is a great movie!! I have it on DVD, and I love it! My favorite actor, Desmond Harrington is in it!

I was told it was scary, I found it not to be. This bit at the beginning is great though

the only good scene in the movie was the one that has already been discussed...other than everyone being cut in half by the cable the movie blew

Eeker Argh, I hated that movie. Even the casting of the great Shakespearean actor Desmond Harrington didn't save it. It started off fine, but after that derailment of an ending, it just might land on my least favorite movies list.

Well, we are only allowed so much gore, and, as for a plot, our governments don't allow us to be intellegent enough to realise a good script. These are mostly 'junk' movies; watch once and move on. The idea of paying for them is a joke. I liked Ghost Ship. Have you seen 'The Others'? It's one of those movies that you must not tell your friends how it ends. Let's face it; none of these movies are frightening unless you have some personal memory which relates to the content. A lot of them are just funny and not meant to be taken serious; each to their own.
