I recently saw this movie and found it quite good. The acting of Nicole Kidman was superb, the plot was good, and the movie scared me. Also the part at the end where they find out they are really the ghosts is a great twist. Anybody have any thoughts on the film?

I think it's a legit horror flick/mystery, but compared to "The Innocents" (which I believed inspired it), it's nowhere's-ville!

I thought this film was very good. Compared to some of the sorry excuses for suspense movies coming out these days, it was certainly an unexpected achievement.

I explained the entire plot to my girlfriend in the first five to ten minutes. I laughed extremely hard because it seemed like they ripped the story from a Dungeons & Dragons game I played with my older cousin and his friends when I was in Grade 4. It was a low rent Sixth Sense(which was also transparant plotwise)and Nicole Kidman's acting was the worst I have seen from her. Probably made an interesting ghost story for girl guide campouts originally though!

You really didnt think Nicole Kidman did a good acting job? That's surprising, I found her very good. Well, you said it was her worst performance, but I cant think of any bad performances shes done. I obviously have a different opinion on the movie and her than you do.

I actually think Kidman is a pretty good actor. I especially appreciate her ability to get rid of her accent which so many other actors don't even bother to attempt(which infuriates me). I just didn't find her performance convincing in this film, but equal blame for that, in my opinion goes to weak writing and directing.

Now I loved "The Others" and think that it is in some senses better than "The Sixth Sense". I basically have to agree with Elijah on the matter. Plus, Alejandro Amenbar has much more potential than M. Night Shyamalan. Compare his new film "The Sea Inside" to anything Shyamalan has done post-"Sense". No comparison!!

I was pretty disappointed with this movie. I thought that you spent all movie waiting for some great plot twist and then, at the end, the reveal isn't that great. It was just a big let down.

This movie was a pathetic flop. I am sorry that Nicole was subjected to acting in such a horrible movie.

Yeah, I like the movie but I wouldn't say it is scary. It has a great storyline and plot twist though.

The Others is a successful film. It scares under the banner of 12 certificate whereas most 18s these days fail (I'm from the UK by the way). Way scarier than the generic claptrap that passes for horror these days.

It's difficult to like because it's a big budget Hollywood movie, but I think they did a good job on it. I grudgingly admit it is good ghost story.
