I love when the bass is really prominent in a rock song. It gives the song extra meat so to speak. What are you favourite bass lines or players in rock songs. Here are a few of my favourites.

Schism- Tool
Higher Ground- Red Hot Chili Peppers
Plug In Baby/Hysteria- Muse
A view from the Afternoon- Arctic Monkeys
Heart in a Cage- The Strokes
Mind- System of a Down

Yeah, Matt Freeman is a really great bassist. I really liked And Out Came The Wolves as well as it's follow up Life Won't Wait.

Anything Sting played on 1980's Zenyatta Mondatta. Particularly "When the World is Running Down..."

"Hey Joe" Jimi Hendrix Experience, Noel Redding on bass. It is easy to dismiss Redding, but if his bass was missing the song would just not have worked. Strong work.

Any Primus fans? Claypool is a bass god! PRIMUS SUCKS!

Tool utilizes their bass player's talents very well. As sbarr2 pointed out.

Also, I know they are a way poppy metal band but i think the Mudvayne bassist is talented too.

There is no question that Steve Harris from Iron Maiden is the bass god of the millenium. Duff Rose The King of Beers McKagan also deserves proper respect, as does Les Claypool. As does Peter Steele because of the way he makes the bass meow like that. blackdiamond13 @ Jemsite
