I am trying to make a CD of the best Beatles songs. Here is what I have. Tell me if you think something should be changed. You will have to say which song you would take off as well because I am limiting this to one CD.

There's a "Favorite Beatles" thread in the rock section. You may get some ideas in there. Personally, I'd like to see "Sexy Sadie" on the tracklist. That's probably my favorite Beatles song.

I think "Rain", "I Want You", and "I Me Mine" are all relatively expendable, if you're going to get rid of any.

Sexy Sadie is a pretty great song. Mabye instead of Rain?

What I can't believe is that you have no pre-1966 music on the list. The earliest song you have on there is "Tomorrow Never Knows" off Revolver. There are a ton of songs I would add. I would subtract "Dont't Let Me Down," "I Me Mine," and "I Want You." I actually like "Rain." Problem is, I really want to add more than three. I've listed a bunch, but given the addition/subtraction rules you have laid down, the first three are the ones I guess should really be on there.

I do like many of the earlier songs, but in my opinion the later albums are all vastly superior. It probably has a lot to do with the style of music that I like.

Of the ones you listed, the ones that are tempting to me are "Something" and "Hide your love away." I like "Fixing a Hole" and "getting better" but I think they work well on the album and no so much as part of a mix.

And "No Reply" is also very good for an earlier song.

I think "Don't let me down" is one of the coolest songs so I can't remove that one. I'm surprised that nobody like "I me mine" and "I want you." To me they both have a pretty cool sound. Although I think replacing "I me mine" with "Somthing" would be good.

Fair enough. I have always been a little partial to earlier stuff. Of course there was no bad song on your list, I would just use different ones than you chose. Maybe look to album 2 of the "White Album." I know you said "Sexy Sadie," but I have always loved "Yer Blues," "Mother Nature's Son," and "Savoy Truffle." I admire your courage in trying to produce a "best of" Beatles disc. There is no way I could pick 15-20 tracks. Good luck!

It's hard to compile the Beatles on a single disc and not leave some stuff out. Some other tracks I would consider essential that are missing:

"You never give me your money" would be included on the Abbey Road medley. So I have that one.

Also Savoy Truffle is a good one to consider I think. Obviously you have to leave out a lot of good songs but that's what makes it interesting.

I'd agree with the first guy....the last song on the most influential record ever written "A Day in the Life." They got the entire London philharmonic to do tha cachophonic run at the division of song. That song represents everything the Beatles stood for.
