With me as an avid bass player myself, I find it weird that there are so many guitarists/lead singers and so few bassists/lead singers.

Here are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head:

The All-American Rejects
MxPx

Pink Floyd?
Blink-182?
(both have more than one lead singer)

Anyone know some more or the reason why it's so lopsided?

Here's a couple others that spring to mind:

Rush (Geddy Lee)
The Police (Sting)
Pixies (Kim Deal sang lead on a few tracks)
R.E.M. (Mike Mills sang lead on a few tracks)
Morphine (Mark Sandman)
The Beatles, Wings (Paul McCartney)
Kiss (Gene Simmons)

wow, I don't know how I forgot about those.

I'm particularly impressed by Geddy Lee. Try listening to the bass part on "YYZ". Good thing for him there's no vocals on it.

A few more that come to mind:

Greg Lake - King Crimson (I don't count ELP because he also played guitar there)
John Wetton - King Crimson, UK, Asia
Jack Blades - Night Ranger

This is a bit of a stretch, but Ronnie James Dio played bass in the original incarnation of Elf. I believe they were called the Electric Elves at the time.

lopsided? PErhaps lead guitarists are more outgoing than are bassists.
Did John Entwistle sing on any The Who songs?
