It's a lot weaker than Rated R, IMHO.

I think Songs For The Deaf is by far their best album! It is the first thing to come from the remnants of Kyuss to equal the quality of Blues For The Red Sun.

I haven't heard any other album from Queens of the Stone Age than Songs for the Deaf. Is their other stuff along the same lines as Songs for the Deaf? I loved that album. Does Dave Grohl do drum on the other QOTSA albums?

I've listened to Lullabies to Paralyze seven times now, so I can give it my whole-hearted recommendation. The thing is that I don't really know Kyuss and I've only heard this and Songs For the Deaf. The main thing I notice is that this album seems more-poppy, so I don't know if that's going to piss longtime fans off. I'd say that if you take the more pop-sounding songs from the last album, shortened them and increased what sounds like some inspiration from Cream, then you'd get something close to the new one. So for me, I say "Great!" There's way too many songs to mention that are memorable, but I was pretty impressed how the first two songs were both under two minutes and then segued into "Everybody Knows That You're Insane". I thought for a minute I was listening to a remake of Pink Flag! So, anybody who hears this, come and share what you think, no matter what.

I quite like it so far. It's no Songs For The Deaf, but equally as good if not better than Rated R and the self titled debut. Hopefully this is just one of many consistently high quality albums to come from them, the rock world needs them to continue on rollin'! Mark, you should really pick up Kyuss-Blues For The Red Sun, it's easy to find and usually cheap. That album is certainly the equal of Songs For The Deaf, yet from a very different standpoint.

Well, what about Josh's other two bands? Uh... the Eagles of Death Metal and... not Kyuss but... gosh I just can't remember.

I'm sure one of them was Kyuss.
I wasn't really impressed by Songs of the Deaf, a little melodramatic in a creepy, violent sort of way, especially since upon buying this album, thought QOTSA were going to be definite Guns N Roses contenders, maybe a little freaky base, not too lacking in the steppenwolf department (oh how I was wrong). Can't get them all.

I just noticed this quote passing through... quote: Originally posted by Member 27: I couldnt tell you. I bought Songs for the Deaf and it didnt really do anything for me so I dont take an interest in them.
And id just like to pose a quandary: If someone asks a question about a band and you neither like the band nor know the answer, isn't it kind of pointless to post? It kind of reminds me of the Jackoffasaur episode of south park where mr. garrison asks the class a question and one of the baby jackoffasaurs raises his hand and says "I dont know"
