Oh hey Maynard. Never expected to see you here! Both your bands suck, by the way.

This would be funny...if Tool wasn't an awesome band that doesn't suck. As far as hard rock...the first thing that comes to mind that actually rocked my socks off this year was Fucked Up's The Chemistry of Common Life, an excellent album. If you're looking for something noisy with plenty of guitars, try out Titus Andronicus' album, The Airing of Grievances. Hope this helps at all!

I don't know exactly what you're looking for But The Constantines have some pretty kickass guitar heavy stuff Check out their album "Shine A Light", one of the better albums I've heard.

I found The Woods by sleater kinney to be pretty heavy stuff. If you don't mind a chick singing (or rather shouting and kind of screaming). Also earthless does some great instrumental hard rock on Rhythms from a cosmic sky. Do you want lyrics? I think there have been a few topics like this and people usually mention songs for the deaf by queens of the stone age

Cocaine Crazy by Lion Ride is a an excellent hard rock song, or try Never Wrong by Riot:Noise. The album Comatose by Skillet is also quite good, well worth a listen IMO.
