Yes, Crowdiggs. You got it. They're appreciated, but not viewed as being on the same level as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Who, etc. Personally, I'd take the Kinks over the Stones any day. The Band's truly "great" music is, at least in my mind, limited to just 2-3 records, (plus their underrated contributions to Dylan's catalog). However, those records are so good that they should be included in that upper-level of bands.

I would say Dirty Rig, why? because their a cool progressive rock band with an oldschool style.

I think Duran Duran needs to start getting some credit because their influence has started to show up in recent music, and we've gotten past the point where we don't dismiss every pop act from the 80's.
Also the Wipers never seem to get any credit. Everyone mentions the pixies, sonic youth, and the replacements as heavy influences on alternative rock. I think the Wipers are just as important.

Also, Pink Floyd due to the fact that the are never mentioned in any top 5 lists. The Floyd truly demolished the Stones in both quality and lack of quantity.
You are an absolute dope. Styx is the worst band ever and Pink Floyd is only good when you are stoned.

And they think of them even less when it comes to rock.
I like to think The Clash were a genre all their own, melding a sophisticated punk into rock and alternative which is quite something for the time (1977-1982).
It also kind of frustrates me that their most famous song is "Rock the Casbah", probably the biggest misconception people would have about The Clash. Personally, I hate that song because it totally misrepresents them as some kind of cheap rock act. But I absolutely love The Clash for their much better work, generally pre-Combat Rock. From their debut to Sandinista!, I think that body of work has done a lot more for alternative music today than it has for the current "punk rock" bands, ironically. Green Day can cover "I Fought the Law" all they want, but The Clash were about so much than a measly cover song that doesn't even begin to showcase their true talent.
But that's just me.
Couldn't agree more. I just want to throw out that Pearl Jam is pretty underrated. So is Neil Young.

Marquee Moon is just a badass album, Forever Changes was a pinnacle of pyschedelic music and Remain in Light was a innovative mix of so many genres.

Totally agree with Love as one of the all time most underrated. Would also add Mott the Hoople, and my choice for most underrated of all time, THE KINKS.

J. Geils early and mid. stuff. There was a Canadian group the name of Chilliwack (I think). I really liked what they put out, but they got lost in the music masses. Anyone heard of them, listened tto them?
