in response to stormrider...there is no way that ac/dc and guns n roses are overrated...yes dave evans and axel rose both have different voices but that is what makes the individuality of both bands...and angus young's guitar playing is insane...he is possibly one of the greatest guitarists of all time along with slash of guns n' roses,now in velvet revolver

You're quite right. Neither band is overrated if anything they are underrrated. However, Dave Evans was kicked out of AC/DC nearly 30 years ago. Perhaps you mean Bon Scott or Brian Johnson?

Seriously, Dave Evans??? That's harkening back to a lesser known time. AC/DC and Guns 'N Roses are two of the most important blow-out-the-speakers, flat-out rock bands in history. They will undoubtedly stand the test of time, unlike most anything that has sprung up in the last 15 years or so.

I personally don't get how AC/DC got such a critical reputation just by banging on their guitars and screaming about how macho they are and how they're going to kick your ass.

Some of their songs are okay, but then when I hear that song where the singer professes that he's 'TNT, dynamite', my eyes roll back so far I can see my brain.

Guns and Roses' fame I get, but I don't like that particular style of music.

Just replay side 2 of Back in Black when you have a free 15 minutes or so. That album is so freakin' tight (and I'm not using "tight" in its current usage). Not much in terms of wasted momentum. It sounds simple, but it's elegance and grace hasn't been duplicated.

AC/DC are rock n' roll perfection, like The Ramones. Myself, I'm totally partial to the Bon Scott era, but I can dig some of the later stuff as well. GNR put out one killer album, got big heads, and went off the deep end. Appetite For Destruction remains a landmark album, but the later albums lost the punkish edge that made tracks like It's So Easy and Out To Get Me so memorable. AC/DC can't be overrated, as they are originators of a style they slavishly adhere to, whether you like the style or not is the only question, they do (and continue to do) what they do perfectly. Guns N' Roses, sadly, were a bright star that faded incomprehensibly fast.

I think Bon Scott era AC/DC is pretty sweet. Black in Black is the only decent post Bon Scott AC/DC album. After that they went downhill big time.

Guns N Roses gets major kudos for Appetite, which put to shame every other long-haired rock band's albums at the time. They could've released a follow up that was just as good, but instead released a bloated double album with way too much filler.

AC/DC IS overrated! They did NOT originate crap! Angus is a casual guitarist! He uses the same cords in every song and the riffs all sound the same! His solos are only average! He's possibly the most overrated guitarist ever! If not than he curtainly comes close! And AC/DC's drummer and bassist just plain suck!

AC/Dc are OVER RATED. I don't see anything special in them. Theyre bland, they don't experiemnt with styles they don't create a fusion of any styles. Theyre predictable, boring. Loud, yes, but that's about it. They have NOTHING on other bands at the same time. Points to Rainbow!! Rainbow>Ac/DC

No it wasn't a joke. yeah they wern't as big commercailly, but they produced better music. So what if Ritchie Blackmore came from Deep Purple? rainbow still produced quality music, especilaly when Dio was the vocalist. Rainbow are a far better band than Ac/Dc IMO and the media hype should of been with them an dnot AC/DC

I'm not going to read ths whole thread, but AC/DC and Guns n Roses are two of my least favorite bands ever. Absolutely impossible for me to sit through. They cause me physical pain.

I like rock. I happen to hate these two bands.
