I barely managed to get through
Zeitgeist once. It is utterly uninspired, lacking, for the most part, any redeeming qualities. It wants to pass itself off as aggressive, but I was unable to detect any genuine emotion, rage or otherwise.
The inspired, soaring, and sometimes beautiful melodies (found in all the best "heavy" Pumpkins songs) are nowhere to be found. Corgan's vocals (or at least the mixing/production of them) have lost every trace of ethereal beauty they once possessed. And is it just me, or are the vocal harmony overdubs ("Starz," anyone?) flat-out ridiculous sounding?
Oh, and the vaguely Japanese-sounding synth stabs in "For God and Country" sound like a pathetic rip-off of those found in The Cure's "The Walk." I really dislike this. 3/10
