I just thought that we needed a Pink Floyd thread here. I think that they are awesome. And on the subject, What is your favorite Pink Floyd song? I like Pigs on the Wing, really short song and not one of the most popular but for some reason I think it is one of their best. Another good one is Wish you were here.

Ah yeah, they're an amazing band indeed. 'Dark side of the moon' is still the best album ever to smoke to. My favourite songs would have to be either Time or Shine on you crazy diamond.

By the way, if you like Pink Floyd but feel they're the only good soft rock band out there, check out Jefferson Airplane and Velvet Underground sometime.

I just heard a remake of Another Brick in the Wall by KORN. Why??? I am at a loss of words for how bad the song is, they ruined a classic.

i think my favorite of theirs is "dogs." 17 minutes long, but it's a solid 17 minutes. great stuff, and "animals" in general is an underrated album.

animals is easily my favorite pf album.I have been pulling out all the pink floyd vinyl my dad gave me of his collection.Of course i basically like all the albums but i like animals the best.

hmmm, its too hard for me to choose which PF album i like best..because i like them all too much!! My dad gave me his vinyls too!! but, then i got "Echoes - the Best of..." and I listen to that most of the time...especially considering i don't have a functioning record player...

I've always preferred Syd Barrett Pink Floyd, basically all of "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" ("Astronomy Domine", "Lucifer Sam", "Interstellar Overdrive", etc.)

I, personally, am not a fan of "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn". In my opinion, it is too much like all of the other british bands during to time, in other words it sounds too much like The Beatles. They kind of break away from that when Syd went crazy and Roger Waters took over the composition. Granted some of the songs such as "The Gnome" and "Lucifer Sam" are very interesting, I just like their later stuff better.

"The Final Cut" is easily my favorite album. PostWar Dream is an incredible song to open things up.

(By the way, PLEASE don't refer to Floyd as "soft rock." That juxtaposition makes me want to vomit. They are NOT soft rock. Go listen to "The Wall" again.)

Another great album that doesn't get a lot of play is "Atom Heart Mother". "Animals" is good, but it's emotional range doesn't quite compare to many others in their collection.

I'd completely forgotten about the the "soft rock" label that was hung on Pink Floyd here, MGE. Yes. Let's strike that for the good of the order.

While The Final Cut is not my favorite Pink Floyd album. I think it's terribly overlooked. I remember it was released with great fanfare, but poor reviews and generally proved to be something of an anti-climax after The Wall. I was surprised and pleased this year when the remastered edition was released this year (with the wise addition of "When the Tigers Broke Free" from the film sountrack of The Wall), that a number of sites, notably Pitchfork, gave it generally positive reviews.

On the whole, I'm fairly conventional in my taste. I think Dark Side of the Moon is their best album. Wish You Were Here is my favorite. Animals is easily the most overlooked, even in light of my ramblinegs above.

Okay, I'll strike it. Some of thir songs rock hard, but for the most part they are a good sedative.

Animals would be my favorite album, with Seamus being my favorite song.

But just on first glance...it appears to be another sue happy group...trying to rob the riches from the person or peoples who really are the main reason why anyone would buy the album in the first place.

This is another problem with our society...there is no respect and people think that they are entitled to things that they do not deserve.

I dunno, Imprezu21. If you're a memorable part of one of the band's biggest hits, I can see the merit of getting a taste.

I don't have a particularly strong feeling one way or the other save for the fact that it makes for an interesting backstory to the song.

Very interesting indeed...now I tend to lean towards Imprezu's thoughts that it would be an honor just to be in the song. But the fact that they didn't have any knowledge that they were being recorded changes things a little. I think that they are just suing because they can, not because they care. If they cared they would have said something a long time ago, rather than just all of the sudden deciding that they wanted some money for their work on the song. I'm not really sure even if their part was necessary in "The Wall". Sure, it is ironic to have children singing "We don't need no education" but it wasn't needed.

Update: From what I understand they each member of the choir is only going to get a couple hundred dollars individually. Apparently they think that they were mistreated in how things went. But Pink Floyd did give them each a copy of "The Wall". If they were suing for a larger amount, I would take offense, but they aren't they just want justice.

One thing that always made me uncomfortable about "Another brick in the wall pt.2" was the line "We don't need no education". Every one needs education. It should perhaps have been "We don't need your education" without changing the feel of the song at all.
Anyhoo, now that I got that off me chest, my favorite Floyd moment is "Echoes". This song encompasses every thing about Floyd in a single piece. And "Seamus"? Surley some mistake?

One of my favourite songs is "Another Brick in the wall" but as my boyfriend well says you have to be in the right state of mind to listen to Pink Floyd.

Yeah, I'd have to say that Animals is one of my favorites along with Dark Side of the Moon. But I kinda agree that you need to be in the right state of mind to listen to Pink Floyd. But that's true for a lot of bands. Unless of course you're talking about drugs in which case that's just stupid.
