Glad you liked, Mark. Everytime I read about an interesting prog reissue I've never heard about, it's off to Gibraltar to get what usually are opinions that match my tastes in prog. Worthy prog sites are finally coming about with ample samples, well written articles and reviews: that makes me much happy.

Hmmmm, prog, 'ey? So much to love, but I'm gonna go with a more modern take and nominate Devil Doll: The Girl Who was Death. Check...this....motherhumper...out!!!

Yes is definitely my favorite. I think that Close to the Edge is probably one of my twenty favorite albums of all time.

I just started delving into 70's prog in the last four years or so. I've mainly stuck to the big names up to this point (a lot of Crimson, yes, genesis, etc.). I don't have a favorite band, but the albums I keep coming back to would be: Yes - Relayer Gentle Giant - Octopus King Crimson - Red (far and away my favorite of theirs) Genesis - foxtrot, SEBtP, lamb... I can't decide. They all have their strengths. Like I said, nothing too obscure, but I'm working on that. There's a band called Cobra High that put out an excellent album called "sunset in the eye of the hurricane" in 2003 that has a very proggy sound (the singer even sounds like he's trying to emulate the vocal style of Gentle Giant's singer). That's another one I listen to a lot.

Prog rock - a much misunderstood genre. Crimson are great as are Porcupine Tree. I also have a liking for 'Farewell to Kings' by Rush (is that a sad quality?) There's also been a few crossover album. Amongst others, Voivod's prog/metal offering 'Nothingface' is amazing. See also - Ozric Tentacles (maybe more in the 'space rock' field of things) and Fantomas' Delerium Cordia - OK, it's classed as avant-garde metal, but one song for an hour? Could be a 'Yes' B-side I feel.
