I'm also a Beatles fan. Hmm I am trying to find a version of "While My Ukulele Gently Weeps" that I had once. Boo can't find it but it was awesome.

I know a few people who don't like the Beatles because they're so incredibly mainstream... kinda stupid way to look at it if you ask me

The Beatles were the "blender" of their day, taking pop and rock and producing some of the most timeless music in rock and pop. They were the first band to bring a sense of progression into rock, with the Stones right on their heels. Each album was intended to be different and better than the former. They were not afraid to take risk ala Sgt. Peppers, and sometimes take a blow for the risk like Magical Mystery Tour. You can take two Beatle albums and hear almost every modern genre of rock in the songs: Revolver and Rubber Soul. If you compare "strings of albums", who has matched the number of albums that blistered the charts and amazed their peers? Love the Beatles? It is difficult not to love them if you like rock and pop.
Boy, you got to carry that weight a long time!

Terrible point, relies on the opinions of others, which are worthless when it comes to how you feel about music. KoRn sold well and influenced/impressed their peers as well, to use one example, heh. Otherwise a good post.

I don't think it is a terrible point, in the sense I would really agree with you. The quesiton was "Do we like the Beatles, and that is one of the reasons I like them." I would also use that as a reason for liking Korn, in that they have given music wealth of work in their catalogue. I also like the Stones for the same reason. It is subjective, and that is the point. When asked do we like a group or artist we are being asked a subjective question. I am afraid the way I worded it came off as sounding like "they should be liked over others for giving us a stream of music . . " I intended to imply it is one of the reasons i like this band so much.
