Now, thought i'd throw this one out there for discussion, see your views on it. I, personally, think the Beatles, John in particular, just did this to play with people and maybe stir up some controversy, and with that, sales of their albums. not that sales was what it was ALL about, though. What's the thoughts?

If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that's his problem. Love and peace are eternal.

I do think someone was behind it. certainly paul isn't dead, but there are so many "clues" in the music and album art to just call it coincedence. I dont think they did it for album sales. I think they did it more just to mess with people's heads like you said.

There is a really cool book on this subject called "The Walrus Was Paul" by R. Gary Patterson. It's a quick, interesting read. Some of the "clues" are a bit of a stretch, but there is some pretty convincing evidence that there was a hoax.

My friends and I were totally into the "Find All the Clues" thing, but we never bought into any truth to it. The release of both the two singles ("Penny Lane/"Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Hello Goodbye"/"I Am the Walrus") and Sgt. Pepper in 1967 really kicked it off, and by Abbey Road, it was a full-blown urban legend. I haven't read any books, but I do know a lot of goodies about it, both visually and according to the lyrics and little add-ons to different songs.

Trivia Note: Yes, "Penny Lane" and "Hello Goodbye" were the A-sides of those two singles, believe it or not. (Although, there's a revisionist idea that "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields" was a double-A side.) For the record, I liked the "B-sides" better, but I loved McCartney's songs. Cool
