Hi, I want to learn to play rock guitar but the difficulty is that it’s not possible for me to take private lessons on this and I am thinking of taking online lessons for this. Can anyone suggest me a good source where I can get the needed stuff for a beginner and help me further on to make a better rock guitar player?
Honestly you can find a lot of stuff on youtube. I found just watching videos there pretty helpful in the beginning. I'd just go there and get a bit comfortable playing before I put money into lessons.
I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor I was back to pondering my mortality.

I took lessons as a kid, but you certainly don't need years of lessons to become a passable rock guitarist. Learn basic chord formation, at least for all major and minor chords, and the major and minor scales, and you can play the majority of rock songs. You won't be Yngwie Malmsteen, but who is?
----- Use all your well-learned politesse or I'll lay your soul to waste.

If you want to be more like him, I believe you can find the special Yngwie Schecter here.

Now the beginner rock guitar player finally has his or her own fast-track course. With all the important elements which you should know. In 30 days you learn, by playing together with the band: - Rock ballads - Shred technique - Riff rock - Punk rock - Hard rock and more. Direct downloadable to your pc.

I was thinking about picking up the guitar, but I don't think I want the Creed dude to teach me.

I have been learning just from free video lessons on youtube for almost a year now and think there is really only one that you need.
His name is Justin Sandercoe and he was the lead guitarist for the katie melula band.
He goes right from the basics of chords, barre chords, strumming, 12 bar blues, major scale, minor pentatonic - to more advanced things like jazz chords, chord tones, walking bass lines...
His videos are organised very well so if you want the basics, start with the first few and follow the numbers. There is also more theory on his site www.justinguitar.com
Next Level Guitar also has many good song and technique lessons which act as a preview for their non free lessons on their site. Some of their stuff is good but I don't think he's as good a teacher as justin. They used to do really great song lessons but got in trouble for copyright, however some of those videos can still be found dailymotion and metacafe.
The other all around great teacher I found recently is Siggi Mertens. He has a few beginner videos with songs and techniques, and he probably has the widest variety of styles and has the most song video lessons. He's great because he's a rocker turned tommy emmanuel fingerstyle convert so you get both.
If you want to learn more songs (which are a good way to learn new techniques) after you have got the basics down, there are plenty of good guys that can teach anything from radiohead to sufjan stevens.
