Hey, so I'm trying to get into Pulp, and would like to know where to start... I listened to their first album from my friend and didn't like it too much, didn't stand out too much. I hear "Different Class" is better, but how about a poll instead? I trust you!
I will probably buy 2 albums.

I see from your profile you are from Chicago. I'm unsure how much exposure Pulp had in the US but there's a few facts about the band you may not be aware of.
Part of their appeal stems from the fact that they took absolutely ages to generate any interest from the mainstream media. They were true underdogs in the UK music scene and when they finally 'made the big-time' it was quite a moving moment in the UK music industry. Consequently, they have many more albums released on independent labels from 1983 onwards that you may not be aware of. If you hunt around you may also find the following albums -
It Freaks Masters of the Universe Separations
Additionally, there is a compilation album of the better tracks from all the above independent releases entitled -
'Countdown - Pulp 1992 - 1983'
They really are THAT old! This release is well worth hunting down for a quick overview of the history of the band before they were famous.
Personally, I think Pulp were the best of the bunch from the 'Britpop' movement (above Blur and the vastly overrated Oasis). The best album is unquestionably Different Class. Fantastic social commentary from Jarvis Cocker and an essential purchase.
