I recently bought Vol3 The Subliminal verses on sale and think its absolutely excellent. However, I've heard its different to the other two cds they have released. Would it be worth getting Iowa or Self titled or is it possible to like the new one without liking the old?

It's totally possible to like Subliminal Verses without getting into their older albums. It's far superior musically and production-wise. The other albums all start out with fast, heavy and overall strong songs, and then gradually get worse and worse as the discs drag on. You might still like them, but enjoying Subliminal Verses is no quarentee that you will like the rest of the band's output.

Three whole frowns. Whoa, thats serious. I try not to be presumptuous, but what the hell, correct me if I'm wrong. I get the impression that you're one of those people who has maybe heard one or two Slipknot songs, probably Left Behind from Iowa or whatever the singles were off the first one. You have probably been put off by the image and added them to your list of nu-metal bands you vow never to listen to again. Thats all well and good, but you cant justify it. As I understand, its much different to their last works, and damn it, its a pretty fine record. Of course, I could be completly wrong. I'm sure there's several ways to interpret three frowns. seriously, joji, you couldn't go into a little bit of detail? I hate those super-minimalist posts.

I have heard every song on their 3 albums, quite unfortunately. I can't stand a single second.
