i'm a little disappointed. i thought the people here who gladly share their opinions had their own artistic attempts to share as well...i thought we had a bunch of failed artists! oh well. at least there's a few of us i guess.

I wanted to wait to post stuff until we finished re-recording our songs, but that task will remain unfinished until I find some drums...
My band is called Public Access. It's me and a friend. We're trying to break out of the shoegaze mold. Our newer material (not posted) does that, and we are trying to make it sound as non-derivative as we can. We don't play shows, but want to one day. We just write and record music for fun. We've written a fairly large amount of material, and once we record it with drum takes, we'd like to press it to a cd.
I don't pretend that the music is that great, but here it is... Public Access
In terms of material, we haven't got that far yet. We have sort of been real busy with other things up until now, so we should be kicking out a lot more things soon.
It's basically a trio, that create the music..then we recruit guest artists/vocalists from other groups/solo projects. So far we've got guys from Texas, Colorado...and if he's still up for it a guy from a upcoming metal band in our area (Wales, Uk).

Hello! I'm in a Greeley, CO band called Prehensile Intestines (temporary - we've been having trouble deciding).
I posted earlier, but I just finished mixing down this new song, Strawberry Shortcake (You've come a long way, Fireball).
I'm actually pretty surprised at how well it along with 8-10 other songs are coming together. Not to gloat or anything, but I think YOU might enjoy it.
WOW Cool thread. not eric - the sounds are interesting, if not cohesive, and they do a lot to create a foreboding atmosphere. i'm thinking like the factory sounds of bjork's dancer in the dark. Actually. I really like this. If it was more soothing I'd go to sleep to it. I'll listen to more later. And if anyone is at all interested. My link is http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=572005&T=70. And I'd be VERY interested to hear what people think (not production wise).

Me and my roommate are currently in the process of starting a band called "Pan: the Experience"... we know the first EP's name will be "Experience Pan". I'm going to play the lute or something similarly fruit and he's going to play guitar. We'll use drum beats from a casio keyboard like Wesley Willis.
The sound will be part mastodon (Leviathan not Blood Mountain) mixed with The Exploited and a lil bit of Jefferson Airplane thrown in for good measure.
The first albums songs will be about the greek god Pan and will sync up w/ "Pan's Labyrinth".
Watch your asses because we're gonna fly up the charts. I've almost got one song in the bank.
I've been working at mixing stuff into shape. I've got three tracks in pretty decent form here:
Also, Mike - I wouldn't worry too much about getting the right gear straight away. I know too many people who get entirely too preoccuppied with the equipment they are using and get lost. Consequently they end up letting the equipment make flat, boring, mechanical music. The stuff isn't what makes good music - it's you! your ears, hands, voice, etc.
right on everybody. i'm not about to critique anyone's music, but i think it's cool people are still in to this.
www.myspace.com/ecclesia has a new song i assembled from some of the background elements recorded while working on a more structured piece. b-sides are fun.
we evidently just got a distro deal in the UK, which is pretty cool. i guess our label is trying to get us a feature in the Wire. i'm not sure that'll happen but that'd be sweet.

This thread seems pretty honourable - I hope it doesn't get relegated to 'spam-status'. I should add that I always feel guilty putting up links to things (especially on metacritic), but someone may be interested in what I do. I will check out some of the other bands on here and let you know what I think. I'm intrigued by the bloke on the same label as Minus the bear.
I'm a soloist, although I've collaborated on many different albums in the North Wales music scene - I lived in the same area as The Super Furry Animals and used to drink in the same pubs as them before I moved to Kent a couple of years back.
I have one album officially released on an independent label called 'Judmusic' (I signed the infamous PRS/MCPS forms etc...). I'm a 'one man band'. I don't really fit in any category. I do it for fun more than anything.

If you like, I'm an electronic producer and I can handle mixing and mastering.
That actually goes for anyone here who wouldn't mind a little polish. I'm not professional or anything, but I remix and make electronic music and I'm good at it.

I finally got around to releasing an album's worth of material. It's all online and free and under the least restrictive Creative Commons license I could find, and it is here.

I quite liked "Bonehead", you have talent. I shall have to download more...
EDIT: "Audiosculpture" is a nice Treefinger-ish ambient guitar piece, quite lovely.
Only just found this post. I didn't think anyone had bothered looking me up. Cheers for the kind words Dork (It feels peculiar calling you that). Much appreciated.
I decided to start a myspace musician account to let people hear the music I do. I'm a begginer "artist" and I like to have comments about what I do, because the worst music critic about my music is myself. So I make music for fun and want to mature as an "artist"...that's about it.
You're a busy guy Mr. Duncan Black. I liked 5tfist. I'll link to some of my music in here sometime. Thanks to everyone for sharing.
Dashboard Confessional could perish in a plane over the Everglades, get eaten by alligators, thrown up by alligators and, have their vomited corpses crapped on by a hepatitis infected Nick Nolte look a like, and I wouldn't care enough to even be on the sidelines cheering.
