While you have a seemingly unlimited number of downloads of a track once you've already purchased it (extremely helpful), it's worth it to note that if a band or it's label doesn't contract with emusic anymore, that download becomes unavailable (it's happened to me on occasion).

heh... speak of the devil (again). After I got done making the last post (bottom of page 1), I realized that I had forgotten to include Bloc Party - A Weekend In the City.

I was surprised I missed that because I went through the 'my downloads' section in my profile on emusic alphabetically to ensure I wouldn't overlook anything. Turns out the reason why I made such a gaffe is that the album is no longer available for download on emusic. I know a lot of you don't care, but I liked that album (it would've been a top 10 on that list.. and maybe for my metacritic list).

This just emphasizes that what I said above is still very much true. To restate , that means I can't go back and 're' download A Weekend in the City like I can with albums that are still available on the site for an unlimited number of times. I realize having that option at all is a luxury compared to any other legal downloading source, but it's annoying nonetheless. Ok, I'm done boring you with my egregious nit-picking. I'm off to download "Spirit If"...

Yeah, several of my albums have fizzled into oblivion while eMusic changes its label contracts. But, hey, that's why you backup.

This is my third year with eMusic and it will probably be my last. With all the changes mentioned above, they have also gone from "XX" downloads a month to "XX" downloads every thirty days. My downloads keep getting refreshed earlier and earlier and its pissing me off. When I first started, my downloads refreshed at the end of the month; this month, they refreshed on January 23rd!

As of today (February 4, 2008) eMusic does not have the new MGMT, Drive-By Truckers, Vampire Weekend, Girls in Hawaii, Magnetic Fields, Autechre, etc so I am stuck with Cat Power, Black Mountain, and Sia (all of which are not bad) but I've heard these bands before.

Anyway.. just had to add my rant.

Confused
