I vote R:TW. The game very good graphics and it's so fullfilling to have thousands of soilders fighting. And making elephaunts go and trow 10 men into the air

Myth... an excellent choice! don't forget Myth II also. Myth had the best multiplayer options I've ever seen in a RTS video game.

I've played RomeTotalWar, another exellent game. No RTS can compare to the graphics displayed for this game!

Im currently playing Strength and Honour, by Magitech. I feel it has a unique style of empire management. This game you are assignig personnel for empire. You decide who is going to be your prime minister, military, economic and cultural ministers, you choose your governors and your generals. Each ai character has personal traits that very in strength; loyalty, political ability (make great government officials), leadership (for generals and marshals), ambition, honor, popularity, fighting skills, naval skills... Your job as the ruler is to find the best qualified people that you can trust. Note low loyalty can lead to rebellion if not put in check.

In battle mode, each side has a type of command post where your general usually is stationed. The enemy gets a big moral hit if you sack his command post (by cutting down it's flags) or kill his division captains or generals. A bigger moral hit if you kill his main general also known as a marshal. In the battle map your balancing how many divisions (12 total) will stay to defend the command base versus how many will go on the offensive. Or maybe park all your divisions at your own command base and wait for the enemy to advance which is also limited to 12 divisions. If the computer ops to leave a few divisions to guard his base, then you may be numerically have the advantage. This became a big advantage when the Huns attacked one of my cities and all I had were mostly spearmen divisions. I couldn't manuver and didn't have the speed like the huns, because they only had cavalry units (I may have had one cavalry unit at the time). I elected to park my men and wait it out. I was able to withstand the waves cavalry charges. But this plan didn't always work when they had heavy infantry divisions. In which case it may be better to find a weak spot in their line and some how race to their command post to make a big hit in moral and win the battle that way. (Heavy infantry move pretty slow, but make it up with high hit points.)

My gripes about Strength & Honour
Graphics are dated, no multiplayer server (only TC/PIP, and LAN), battle maps could be larger.
