i just starting to play this game but i cant find the key in the vase. is there a problem in the software and if so, is there a patch for it?

I am a Beta tester for the Nancy Drew Detective PC Game series, so I got this because I very much enjoy the Nancy Drew games. It's a total rip-off, people. If you've EVER played ANY of the Nancy Drew games, you'll see that the makers of Scratches ripped off sound effects, gameplay type, and the magnifying glass cursor. The voice acting is so cheesy I can't stand it. Plus, the demo is the worst demo I've every played. Who cares what's in the dumb basement? It didn't make me want to get the full game. Play the Nancy Drew series, it's much more worth your time.
