I haven't played this game for probably at least 5 years. i'm not exactly sure what genre it would fall into. the game starts and you control a small portion of an island. you build up your armies and lead them around the island conquering the other areas. you have the options to hire mercinaries (the ones i remember are like polish pikemen, norse archers, etc) and you can upgrade your castles. please help.

Sounds like one of these games:

* Master of Magic
* Heroes of Might and Magic

I think it sounds like Lords of the Realm, tho i dont recall norse units, could be wrong tho.
