Yes, we all love The Sims and the Sim Cities but does anyone else miss the older lesser known Maxis titles like Sim Ant, Sim Life, Sim Copter? There were many more but these were the ones I wasted most of my time on.
I know EA has taken over and I'm guessing Maxis is pretty much dead. I don't keep up with the whole gaming industry too well so I'm not sure if Will Wright is still at the helm, but I do wish they would give the Sims a rest and try something new. I predict that much like the first Sims, Sims 2 is going to have about a dozen expansions up until the release of Sims 3. The old titles were strange games but they were all creative ideas and actually fun. It seems like all that creativity has been pushed aside now that they've finally gotten sume success.
Sim Copter was a great idea for a game but the whole design was pretty lazy. This is the title I wish they would at least reattempt. Sim Ant was fun for reasons I still can't explain. It was like a really crappy RTS with ants and green specks.
Does anyone else remember these games? Hopefully with positive memories.
Sim tower was my only other Maxis game that I owned. I was only like 8 years old when I played it but I loved it. I would hours and hours on that game, even though I wasn't really good at it, I just loved the fact that you could follow one like 'black traced family' all throughout the whole hotel. Like I named a family after my own family and then I would just watch them go from shop to shop eating at the resturants and watching them watch a dinosaur movie. I though it was mindblowing that the theater actually had like a 5 frame movie clip that would repeat itself over and over.
As for the new games from Maxis, Will Wright gave plans for his new idea, simply called Spore at the moment, but the idea is new and exciting.
I completely forgot Sim Tower. I think I got that along with Sim Isle and Sim City on a CD. I was so hooked on Sim Tower for the longest time. I recall Sim Isle being just too hard and confusing.
