my gaming experience is no where near as vast as some here, so, i don't really hv a list, but by far & away the game i've spent the most hours playing, & most surprised it hasn't appeared on the board yet is: Alpha Centauri / alien crossfire

it literally changed my perspective on games & my expectations: i loved the short clips interjected when ur "secret projects" were completed. there is such a multitude of little touches that gave it that polished completeness, at least for me. it remains the game i spend more hours with than any other.

a member asked where i got the game, privately, but everytime i hit reply all i got was a blank screen, so, i'm replying here.

i purchased Sid Mier's Alpha Centauri about 10 years ago @ compusa based on a reccommendation from a salesperson. it's still the best game i've ever played. regretfully, i have no idea where it can be purchased now, but i will give you a valuable tip: if you can find someone in your area who has the game, who is willing to lend you the cd-rom, if you do a complete installation, you will no longer need the cd to run the game - ever!

but, if you also install the expander, alien crossfire, you will need to have the cd inserted while playing. i think they discovered their error after the 1st cd & "corrected" it with the expansion. anyway, good luck finding a copy. i think you'll love it.

I don't own a very wide variety of games but I'm a huge Sims fan. I played the Sims 2 for hours on end when I first got it!!
I also really like Zoo Tycoon and although it's pretty simple I love Theme Hospital for some reason!!

We're going to hell anyway let's travel First Class!!

Does NO ONE remember Eggbert?! Man that game ROCKED! Sadly, I can not find it anymore.Frowner

I am also a HUGE fan of Shogo: Mobile Armor Edition. But I played it to much, and the Disk melted to my tray... Yes, now I have a Shogo-inprented CDtray.
I no i would like Everquest (All of the series) and Final Fantisy XI.

For me there are:

Baldur's Gate II + expansions
Diablo I + II
Deus Ex
Fallout I and II
Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Half-Life
Max Payne
MDK
Unreal
Knights of the old Republic
Simon the Sorcerer ( ;-D )
Oh and: Monkey Island Series

I would even add Armed & Dangerous. I disliked the gameplay ( MDK was cooler ) but the cutscenes and story were so funny that I just had to play the missions to see one for another big laugh. ( Like - Why did the litte, old man only have one big eye on the cover. :-P )

So hard to choose!
I suppose Call of Duty-certainly the best first person wwII game made-great graphics-real battles and situations and excellent gameplay.
Rome: Total War was very entertaining.
Red Alert of course.
Medal of Honour: Allied Assault
Diablo II was a favourite.
Command and Conquer Generals? Hitman: Codename 47?
HALF LIFE!-EVEN NOW IT STILL KILLS!
LOTR:Return of the King was awesome.

I would also like to add games that are critically acclaimed, are fun, but that I didn't overly enjoy. Before I get bashed this is entirely a matter of opinion and I enjoyed playing these games, just not to the degree that everybody else seemed to:

1. Half-Life
2. Starcraft
3. Age of Empires
4. Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
5. Fallout
6. UT 2006

i see most of u put War3 as one of the best games. i think u shouldn't be judging on opinons. think that it should be doom. they were a great game that add to this industy alot. iam not saying that War3 isnt a good game but it sure isnt the best. i mean theres way better games like WoW or counter strike/half life.theres also Diablo. so mostly iam saying i dont think you should say that one of your favorit game is the best. you can say that you like it but most likely its not the best
