right without sounding like a wierdo the only thing i can remember about this game is that you start with a small village and a couple of men & a couple of women, now you have to make them mate so the population grows then obviously send the men out to hunt and chop wood and women stay to cook then i think the village gets attacked from time to time but i don't know what the real aim of the game as i was playing it back in 1998 which made me about 11 - the only thing that keeps going round my head about the title of this game is 'bumbs in the night' if anyone could shed some light onto what they think this game is would be much appreciated...
If you could remember whether the game was real-time or turn-based that'd help me identify the game a lot easier.
Obviously, it is one of the civilization-building games from the late-90s era; but that brings a lot of games that can match that description. Though your quote of 'bumps in the night' adds a 'horror' or 'thriller' aspect to it--which addles me.
There are not many civilization building games that take a Lovecraftian or even tenative dip into the horror pool. There just... aren't! As for what game it could be that you're speaking of, I'm at a lost. I would normally suggest looking up Black & White, Settlers II...
You know... maybe you're talking about Baldies! It is a relatively obscure game that only a few people would know about (I know because I played -hundreds- of demo discs back in the 90s) and it came out right around '97--which is about the time period you're thinking of.
Its not Baldies but thanks for the imput i'm still racking my brains its driving me crazy!! something else bout the title if it helps is 'HUMPS'... how annoying thanks again Slacker
