I have a pc w/ a Asus P5LD2 mobo in it. It has SPDIF coax and optical outs for audio and I am currently running coax into a Kenwood 5.1 DD/DTS receiver. I can get 5.1 out of my DVDs but not from games. I am under the impression that this happens because the motherboard doesn't have Dolby Digital decoders or Dolby Digital Live support. I have seen lots of sound cards that support 5.1+ for games via analog connections but I am not clear on whether they also support 5.1 via digital connection. I had been looking at the SoundBlaster X-FI XtremeGamer but it says it supports stereo from the SPDIF connection. Will this card upmix into 5.1 for games using SPDIF or does anyone know of a decent gaming card that will?
Thanks, Justin

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Creative has been in the market of hardware accelerated PC audio since its beginning. Now they are one of the last companies to offer hardware acceleration in a PC audio card with their latest X-Fi line. The Platinum model is not the highest model available but it does have a lot of features. Included with the card is a multimedia remote and an interconnect box to allow audio connections on the front of any desktop computer. This really is one of the best audio experiences available.
