i posted about this game a while back but it was a very short post so let me explain a little more.
Kingdom of Loathing is this funny, online, RPG-ish game that makes fun of WoW but is also a great game on its own. It's full of jokes and references to the most random things: songs, movies, video games, people, etc. As far as graphics go, the creators intentionally make all the characters and monsters stick figures. Also, there's no sound effects or music.
You start out as one of 6 classes (these are the real names): Seal-Clubber, Turtle Tamer, Pastamancer, Sauceror, Disco Bandit, or Accordion Thief. There's a game currency, like with most games, but instead of gold it's meat. The main point of the game is to defeat The Naughty Sorceress and save King Ralph, the king who the sorceress imprismed (imprisoned in a prism).
Here's an example of an item: unwound clockwork grapefruit
This is a clockwork grapefruit that has yet to have been wound up. Strains of the old Ludwig Van begin to play in your rassoodock as you viddy the malenky veshch.
This item's a familiar, an animal that helps you fight. notice the ever-so-subtle reference to Stanley Kubrick's 1971 hit A Clockwork Orange.
The game's online and totally free but donations are encouraged. Ive never donated, nor do I plan to, but the cool thing about it is if you donate $10 they give your character this really good item as a token of thanks.
So now I pose a two-part question: Has anyone heard of or played this game? If not, does it sound like something you'd like to try?
