Without going into it too many details, Bob, she's a little softer on immigration reform than Obama. Any crackdown on immigration usually doesn't play well in the hispanic community.

Naw, I went to Houston, Atlanta, and Dallas to assist and and make sure that the Katrina victims were adjusting to their new locations. This was over a year after the hurricane. These people weren't in shock. I never heard "thank you" all I heard was "can I get this or that or more of this". In essense, they were ungrateful because they felt entitled, just as they had felt entitled their entire lives. They were used to getting handouts, these were welfare transplants as were most of the Katrina victims. These people were professional takers, and could give not even so much as a thank you. I do aid work in Africa too. People even more desolote than the Katrina victims. Yet these people managed to be grateful. It's just the difference between people who feel entitled and those who appreciate free help from those who are generous enough to give of their time.

Wasn’t the response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina inadequate and delayed? Or was that just a massive farce overblown by the media? It wouldn’t be hard to imagine why people may seem ungrateful if they’ve recently suffered such a horrible disaster, and it took ages for the rest of the country to send sufficient aid.

She likes to state how she is all for allowing people into the country as long as they are willing to work, learn English and pay taxes. She is also against the whole "let's build a huge wall" theory. Another one of her selling points is that she is very much for universal health care. When she speaks about that, she follows it up with stating how it is for everyone, no matter race. I also heard that she knows Spanish pretty well. Petty though it may appear, a lot of uneducated voters eat that up. So I went to the rally today and it was very interesting. The atmosphere was electric and the arena was packed with people. She only spoke for about 35 minutes but she covered a lot of areas. She didn't mention her losses in the three primaries today. She stated how she will get rid of the "No Child Left Behind" act, will get health care for everyone and how she will make sure that a lot of money will go towards education. She also stated that although she will inherit the White House with a ton of problems she is more than willing to take on the challenge because of her rich experience. It was an interesting rally because she really played up the fact that she is all for Hispanics and with all of the support she received (from our congressman and the town's own Democratic President) it seems very unlikely that Obama will also come here. In other news, Obama does lead in delegate count now.

As far I know, being a Democrat as well, he believes the same stuff. However, I don't think he is as aggressive as she is in terms of bringing it up.

He favors allowing illegals to get on a path to citizenship, but he's said he intends to make them "go to the back of the line". Whether that would entail temporary deportation or not, I'm not sure, but I don't think a lot of illegal immigrants like the sound of it. He's also said that his position is very close to that of John McCain's. None of the three are very tough on illegal immigrants though, at least not to the extent that Romney and Huckabee were. I doubt immigration will be a significant issue in the November election, which is fine with me because it's just a wedge issue anyway.

That was god awful, and yet . . . I couldn't look away. I wonder if Michael Jackson's lawyers have heard it?

Honestly I think Bill signing NAFTA has a lot to do with it. I read a good article the other day about how it's not really the HISPANIC VOTE that sways toward Hillary, per se, but recently migrated people. Barack essentially tied her in New Mexico whose Hispanic population is something like 42%? Because most of them have been there for generations. Or so the article told me. Barack also favors drivers licenses for illegals, which he's brought up a few times to some success I'd imagine. Hillary waffled on it a lot then ultimately decided against it. Should be interesting to see how my state plays out March 4th.

God damn. What a horrible bitch! America's not the kind of place where the poor should have a voice in politics. Oh wait...
No, America's not the kind of place where illegals should be able to just walk right in and exploit all of our services while not paying a dime for them. And since you sound like a bleeding heart, wasn't JFK (a democrat) the guy who said "ask not what you're country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Yeah, seems like the opposite these days.

I love how right wingers say "bleeding heart" as if it's supposed to be offensive. Yeah, we care. We're so goddamn awful.

We've covered this, so you can read a few pages back rather than me stating the case again, but most credible research shows that the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants pay taxes just like you and I, and because of their status, they're ineligible for far fewer public services. So your assertion that they "don't pay a dime" is false. As for the other thing, in that same speech, JFK also said,"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."
