I certainly approve of his attempt to put issues he believes are important on the table, but he's not garnering votes from the more right-minded spectrum. I'm glad a more conservative independent candidate plans on running because every vote counts - especially in swing states. (We all remember Florida - need I say more?)

Nader's one of my biggest heroes, honestly. I disagree with him more and more politically, but the integrity the man has is astounding, it makes me feel like I'm letting him down by not doing more. That said, I'll never understand the "he takes votes away from Democrats" thing. The argument is that he shares the same ideals as them, or at least a lot of them, but I'd say his biggest agenda is doing something about corporations buying off politicians which really makes it a one party system - we're not even afforded two parties. Bill Hicks describes this well in "Politics In America". And, a lot of conservatives do vote for him. Not as many as the left-leaning, no, but they do exist in double-digit numbers. What bothers me is that if anything, Democrats take votes away from him. They try their damnedest to tie him up in so much red tape he can't make a viable run for the White House, and they're successful because they're organized and well funded. He has to fight to even get on the ballots, and most people have no idea who he is. His logic and mine - It doesn't matter if Kerry or Gore got into the White House instead of Bush, because they're all terrible for the job. They're all corporate whores in the pocket of big business and none of them care about the people. Nader's fought his whole life for the people. And I think the biggest reason "he'll never get elected" is the common belief that he'll never get elected. If all the people who would vote for him did and got his name around, he could really snowball and get some recognition, if he had a fifty million dollar campaign budget he could make just as big an impact as either major party. And the fact he doesn't take the easy way out with corporate sponsorship shows he wants to do it the right way. For some people it really is about integrity. When I think of all the so called "top tier" candidates (on both sides) I think of race cars with all their sponsors' logos laid out across their body.
Campaign reform was such a "big deal" recently, but i think it meant reform campaign contributions to insure that only millionaires who want more money can become president, and if even one of 'em doesn't want more money or is close to a millionaire, then smear that person as the Devil Incarnate.

So, the only moral people running get picked to be portrayed as the most amoral of all? Oh the irony.

SOMEBODY'S been watchin' "Demolition Man"! Weird how they mention Schwarzenegger going into politics & then years later he becomes a Govenor, following in the footsteps of his co-star Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Who else from "Predator" is gonna become one? Carl Weathers? Bill Duke?

While they're at it, why don't they change the constitution to let any person of any age run? I'd gladly front the Metacritic Party. Contact the sticker company! Print out 100000 "M" stickers for 2008! Who's got the cash? Contact the TV channels! Run an ad or two!

I think Hillary will win because most Americans KNOW things HAVE to change and I think Hillary is most likely to try to implement change. Generally, I'm pretty apolitical, but the US is in such a mess that even I'm taking an interest this year.

Change is a meaningless politically loaded word meaning "We want the incumbent out of power, and we'll promise things we don't have to get into office." That's more like it, eh?

Not to pick on S/S, cos she's lovely, but the apathy of the general US voter, and the fact that voting is optional for Americans is deeply, deeply troubling to those democrats outside the USA.
Everyone on the planet is affected by US policy, so please my Jeffersonian brethren, listen and vote!!
I'm not sure who to go for this time....(even tho' I can't drop that paper in the box, I vote in my heart, crossing my fingers)
