My favorite beer is still Oranjeboom. Go ahead and laugh! But, my local liquor store has been having a sale on Pilsner Urquell. Now, I've always loved the original Pilsner, but it's usually at least $8 a sixer. I'm currently getting it for $9.99 a 12-pack. When you pour it into a clear beer glass, it's just about the most beautiful color a beerdrinker could imagine. Hurry up, hal and get your ass here. I'm gonna have to stock up on some of these and hope I don't swill 'em before you show next month.

I love Sierra Neveda's pale ale, the Stone Brewery's IPA, and McEwan's skotch ale. But far and away my favorite beer is Arrogant Bastard, no doubt about it. It has such a strong, over-hopped taste but goes down smoothly. Unfortunately the stuff isn't exactly cheap - around $5.00 for a 1 pint 9 oz. bottle at a store. Anyone else ever find it strange that you get charged "import" prices for beers that are actually domestic in the US? For example, a six pack of Sam Adams usually cost the same as, say, Heineken? Seems like a nice way to keep people drinking Anheuser and Miller products (which are, for the most part, horrendous.) quote:

Not all American beers are trash, just the popular ones.

I have many beer favorites, but I change a lot depending on the situation. The The Corona/Miller/Budweiser/Hoegarden types are great if you know if you're going to drink quite a few throughout a given night. Less headache the day after than if you go all stout! I'm a huge ALE fan as well and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is my favorie at the moment. When It comes to belgian beers, you can never go wrong with a Leffe Brune, but a wide variaty of trappist beers are thankfully available over here too, and they are often works of art! I've recently started brewing my own beer at home, and so far I've experienced with bot a wheat and a pale ale type. The pale turned out to be more of a brown ale though, and 'm still trying to figure out why Still, home brewed beers are a completely different taste experience than manufactored once. If you can get it right, they're head & shoulders above anything done by ordinary commercial breweries.

I find that, with beer, I like it really dark or really pale. I can't stand the taste of most red or medium dark beer, which explains why I like Guinness...and then from there I'd jump to Moosehead, Keith's or Stella. Musicalifragilistic...I see that you're from Nova Scotia...is that beer you're suggesting, by any chance, Canadian? I have never heard of it, and I don't think any of my friends here in Toronto have ordered it before.

If you like the kind of beer where you get a lot of different taste you should drink any belgian style ale (if you haven't tried anything like that before.) Probably the most reasonably priced one I've found is La Fin Du Monde, which runs at about $6 for a bomber. Totally worth it though since the taste is divine. Or you could try the above-mentioned Three Philosophers if you can find and afford it.

Hoegaarden is a Belgian wheat beer. Girls put oranges in it. And the real GG Allin was buried with a bottle of Jim Beam in his hand. Wheat beer! For shame!
