Well I can vouch for the fact that a lot of people here love Coors as well. I also think that it is a rancid, watered-down beer. Almost as bad as Busch and that is saying a lot. Everywhere you go people just buy the cheap beer. Everyone loves Bud Light or Coors or Miller Lite and people order it so much here. Whenever I go to the liquor store or even to the convenient I pick up some Shiner Bock or Heineken and I see people leaving with cases of Coors; they look at me like I'm a weirdo and I look at them like they are weirdos. I think, "If I am going to go out and buy beer that I want to enjoy, I am not going to buy some cheap, nasty beer but rather something dang good." When they made Amber Bock, everyone thought it was the most amazing thing ever. Plus, since it is made by Budweiser it is super cheap, like a 12-pack for $10 cheap. So everyone buys that and orders it and they think they are drinking fine, sophisticated beer because it is a dark beer. I don't get the infatuation, but then again I have very different tastes. So yeah people here love, cheap American made beer, even if the taste (to most at least) is dubious.

I have NEVER, EVER understood why people drink light beer. If you're driving, just have one. Better yet, go by taxi and get stuck in On a positive note, I was delighted to discover that my corner convenience store has, for the time being at any rate, started to carry my favourite domestic beer, Cuatro Equis. It's not easy to come by in Melbourne, being a Queensland beer and all. I might have to make bibulous hay while the sun shines.

One thing to note is that "light" beer in the States actually refers to the number of calories, not the ABV. So light beer here actually has nearly the same alchohol content as other beers. It's usually around 4.3%, about the same as a Guinness for example. As I understand, outside of the US it usually refers to beers that are around 2.0% ABV. quote: Everyone loves Bud Light...or Miller Lite and people order it so much here.
That's a problem that afflicts pretty much everywhere in the US, honestly.

As I've said before, that's all marketing. I'd be willing to bet that most people who claim Bud Light is their favorite beer wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Bud Light and some other pale beer you sat in front of them. Personally, I think Bud's pretty crappy. Like Coor's it's very watered down and has almost no flavor. As for the price, I can think of other beers in that price range that are a lot tastier.

No doubt about it. My dad went with some friends to a Cubs' game a few years back. Since it's Chicago, the big brew at Wrigley is Old Style. One of the guys was claiming how terrible it is and how it didn't compare to Bud Light. My dad got him an Old Style without telling him, and the guy didn't even notice.

I didn't know that. Here in Oz, light beer is essentially tap water with a head.

I like a pretty mass-marketed beer called Blue Moon. I enjoy other beers, but Blue Moon's the old standby.

I can never find it, but I know of it. My friends call it the "Fruity Pebbles" beer.

Today I tried a beer called Red Stripe from Jamaica. It was very good, with a great after-taste and it goes down very smooth. I really liked it a lot. I have heard of that Blue Moon beer but have never tried it, I think I will now because of the mentions on here.

I'm glad you liked Red Stripe, Bro. It's pretty good, if a bit pricey. Then again, you didn't buy it a club or bar, right?

Sure didn't marky. I went to this beer depot right by my place with my friend and we each got one for only $1.50 each, which was substantially less than any bar or club. A six-pack would have been a pricey $9, so I will look around to see if I can find it anywhere else for cheaper.

That equates to about $11 Oz. We pay about $17 for a six-pack of Red Stripe - Wash your mouth out!

Your "export/import" taxes are up the Wazoo! Jamaica's not that far from here!

Red Stripe is absurdly expensive. It's bottled in Connecticut, so I have no clue why it cost so damn much. It's a decent enough brew, though. Beer snobs might try to tell you otherwise, but it really isn't all that bad.

I agree. However, it's not that easy to find here and, let's face it, at the price there are plenty of other, cheaper imported beers. India's Kingfisher's not bad with a hot curry.

What kind of beer is Heinenkugel Chamberk? I don't think I have heard of that beer. Last night I tried Grolsch beer and it was pretty good. It has a strong taste but it then it has an after taste pretty similar to Heineken. But what I really liked is that cool bottle! And it is a 16 oz. bottle instead of the standard 12 oz. I did kind of wish that it was a bit better but it definitely wasn't horrible either. If it was Heineken inside of that awesome bottle, well then that would have been perfect.
