Who does everyone think should be the MVP this year? I have no problem with Steve Nash winning his third MVP of the year. He is the best point guard in basketball, gets his team on runs to win games and is clutch. I love Kobe Bryant as much as the next person but I feel that a lot of his scoring is forced and not natural. He tends to ball-hog. Or maybe you like a dark horse like Lebron James or Gilbert Arenas? As long as you don't like the much hated Dirk Nowitzki.
By the way, Spurs all the way this year. They always play best the year after they dont win a championship. They won it two years ago, didn't win it last year, so now they are back, hungrier, to take back what's theirs.

"Much hated Dirk Nowitski"???? Where the heck did you get that? That's crazy talk. Nash all the way though. That mavs/suns game was absolutely stunning. I actually feel privileged to have watched the whole game as it happened.

compared to nash, dirk's a douche. his leadership skills are lacking, and meanwhile steve is basically the coach of the suns. steve is putting up his best numbers yet, and people always forget to mention that he also snags several boards a game and draws charges frequently. mvp's gotta be steve!

In my parts, the people I talk to, no one seems to like Nowitzki for some reason. I think it is a personal thing though in that everyone I know loves the Spurs--including me--so it was tough losing to them last year in the playoffs. I think he is a tad overrated though, I agree with Mago though that that game between the Suns and Mavericks was terrific.

My vote will be Steve Nash. He does EVERYTHING and makes his team that much better. Dirk will be a close second just because the Mavs is hot right now.
As good as The Mavs are this year, I have hard time believing that Dirk will not win the MVP. The NBA doesn't always give the MVP to the most deserving player, which would be Nash again because without him the Suns are the Golden State Warriors, a bunch of talented gunners without a leader. Just look at when Charles Barkley won the MVP. MJ deserved the award, but it seems for variety sake they gave it to Charles.
What about the forgotten Tim Duncan? All he does is get 20-10 every single night, dominate and excels when he has to. Huge game tonight against Suns, let's see how they play.
Go Spurs!

Huge game today, Spurs Vs. Mavericks. Spurs need to win to keep putting pressure on the Suns for the number two spot. It didn't help that they beat the Jazz last night by almost 30 points. Well whatever happens the Spurs should be strong.

Tough loss here as well. Duncan's ejection was completely and entirely ridiculous, he could have been laughing at anything. A tough loss that hurts our chances of getting the two spot but oh well. We will see Dallas in the post-season anyways.

Since this is the only thread of the NBA, I'll add other feelings I have about the upcoming playoffs.
Steve Nash wins third consecutive MVP Dallas wins Western Conference (even though I want Phoenix to win, but don't think they can last in a best of 7 game format) Miami wins Eastern Conference (go Wade my favorite Dallas wins it all (sadly) I don't really like the Spurs because I'm from Southern California, and they took a championship away from the Lakers, and so did Detroit hence I don't really like them either.

Instead of starting a new thread to discuss the playoffs, I thought we could do it here.
Tough loss last night for the Spurs against the Nuggets. Tim Duncan played uninspired and seemed scared to go to the basket or even post up on anyone. He seemed to just set up the screen and seemed hesitant to attack. In 2005, the Spurs also lost game one to Denver in the first round before easily winning the next four to close that series.
And just how good is that Golden State team? Baron Davis was always one of my favorite players before his knee injury and he seems poised to take down Dallas. They have a great cast of explosive, great-shooting, smart players and hopefully they can defeat the Mavs in the series. They truly are an exciting team and there is nothing better to watch then Nelly giving it to his old team for letting him go after he built that team.

How exciting are the Western Conference playoffs? The Spurs are playing better with a chance to go up 3-1 against Denver tonight and Golden State pounding Dallas. The Warriors are really good, I am shocked that people didn't see this coming. They only swept Dallas in the regular season and have had their number the past two seasons.
I was sad to see the Heat lose yesterday, not because I am a fan of the team but because I am a fan of Shaq. I have always liked him, ever since he played with Orlando, he is a great player.
Well, hopefully the Spurs keep on winning.

The Warriors almost pulled it off tonight, almost. Now they have to take care of business and close this thing out on Thursday back at Oakland. Last thing they want is to have to play a game seven in Dallas. It was such a good game, when the Warriors were up 112-103, I thought they had it, and they were down by 21 at one point! Oh well, they should be able to close it out on Thursday.
The Spurs can close things out at home tomorrow night. Hopefully they will so they can rest up before a tough series with the Suns coming up.

Game 5 of GS vs. Dallas was awesome! I went into this series hoping for a Mavs title, but I found myself really pulling for the Warriors last night. Baron Davis is the MVP of the playoffs so far. Too bad they couldn't pull it off, but I guess they've got the home court for Game 6. Whatever happens, it will go down as one of the best series' of this decade.
Well it seems like all my predictions were horribly wrong, so i'm not gonna predict. However, I hope Golden State vs. Rockets and Suns vs. Nuggets face off. Two off-the-charts fun series. East? don't really care

Now Golden State has a real chance of closing out the series tonight at home in front of their great fans. Hopefully they stay calm, composed and focused. Like I said earlier, the last thing they want is to have to play a game seven in Dallas. I hope Baron Davis has a huge game and shows Nowitzki what a true MVP of a team is.

Yeah, Nowitzki is my favorite player(well, maybe second after Arenas), so this series is killing me. Hopefully they rally together. If Dallas doesn't win the series, I'm pulling for Golden State. I've been a fan of them ever since they got rid of Mike Dunleavy Jr(in what may have been the most lopsided trade of the year).
FKA, I hate to say it, but you and I are on the opposite end in just about every sport. You like the Yankees, I hate the Yankees. You like the Cowboys, I like the Redskins. You like the Spurs, I like teams that don't put me to sleep.

Oh, and despite my wanting to see Nowitzki win the MVP, my vote would have to go to Steve Nash. He's just too good and makes too many people better than they have any right being.

That last sentence was just a low blow Nougie. Just because they like to play their own style of mixing in great defense with setting up great offensive plays doesn't make them boring. We will see how boring they are when they put away one of the most "exciting" teams to watch in the Suns.
I can't stand the Mavericks. They are a bunch of babies that barely won their two wins in the series due to marginal help from the officials. Even before the series started I knew that Golden State would either win the whole thing in six or lose in seven. I am hoping the former is the one that happens.
As for our differences in baseball and football, join the club. I think there is only one other person on here that likes the Yankees, everyone else hates them, including all the Cowboy-haters. I think the Yankees will turn things around and the Cowboys will go deep in the playoff this year. Fixing their issues on the offensive line and attending to that safety issue, along with picking up a top-notch defensive end in the draft; it looks like they have a team built to win.
