Well, it turns out that my Christmas was really great. The whole family got together, everyone had a great time, the kids ran around the house, we had a big meal, and even handed out some gifts...it was great.
So I decided to focus some positive energy into celebrating the New Year. The past year was pretty good for me. I did some travelling in Africa and Europe, I started a really good workout routine and lost the love handles, my job is going well. I hope to do more travelling this year.
So I look forward to this new year with optimism and hope. I wish all my fellow members here a great new year.
Please share something positive about the last year and something that you're looking forward to in the new year.
Music I've heard; music I want to hear; music I've never even heard of and music I'll hate. Experiences, old, new, positive and negative. Life, the endless pursuit of happiness that will always end in a mockery of failure and a pantomime of success. Love, of all shades, values, types and permutations, for all the things on this Earth and all the things that aren't on it. Dreams that will never be fulfilled and dreams I've never dreamt that will be.
2008, huh? I think my biggest goal for next year is to finish writing ten songs and get a band together to play them. Pretty lofty goals, I guess. Gotta aim high though, right?
I also need to do some research and figure where I want to go for graduate school. Filling out applications is major pain, though.

Wow, it's almost 2008? Geez. Well, I'm really young(20), so I'm just hoping that something happens. I'm in the whole "In Limbo" stage of life with just about everything. My main goals personally are to finish two of my music projects(albums) I'm working on. One is the Young Marble Giants meets "Kid A", and the other is the Velvet Underground meets Tom Waits. After that, I'd like to start a damn band again, something garage rock, however, I live in a city where I don't know anyone, so that could be tough. But really, I hope something or someone happens, I'm getting so incredibly bored. Personally I think rockthief has easily the best philosophy anyone could ever come up with. I wanna live in Thoreau-esque oneness with simple beauty, and maybe quit smoking, but probably not. Also, as I wanna drop out of university as I found it's not for me. Best of luck and happy wishes from my little white letters to all of you.

Well, I mentioned it as an accomplishment for me because it takes time. It's a real committment. It took a solid 2 months to lose the love handles and the extra fat around the mid section. I would say I lost a good 15-20 pounds around the mid-section.
I didn't do anything out of the ordinary like take supplements or any of that crap. I talked to a personal trainer and asked him what I need to do. He had me adjust my caloric intake slightly, totally cut the junk food out of my diet(huge difference in my overall attitude after I did this), Then I did 30 minutes cardio everday(usually on the treadmill). After the cardio, he had me do crunches or leg lifts and then side bends. Now, I can do over 100 of each. And now that I go to the gym nearly everyday, I've started with a wieght lifting routine. I love it, and my attitude's never been better.
So I feel great and it's nice to be able to take of your shirt without having to worry about the chicks thinking you're a out of shape and don't care about health. That may sound shallow, but when you're a young guy, looking(and feeling) good is important.
My advice; don't wait. Once you get into your daily routine, you'll find that you will really enjoy it. The difficult part is starting it.
Also, I just want to say to those looking forward to change in their lives in the new year; don't wait for something to happen to you, seize the opportunities big and small.
Corporate America would love for us to just sit back on our lazy asses and keep consuming their garbage and living a life of apathy. But we need to affect change in our own lives and make them better and healthier....and simpler.
So make your life better, nurture your relationships because they are the most important thing you have, and love your fellow human while your at it.

That is the most thoughtful, supportive, considerate, benevolent, encouraging post I have ever read from you—not that it means anything but it is highly appreciated and recognized—kudos to you.

Good advice there.
