Hi, everyone! As you can tell, my name is Matt. I'm 29 years old. I'm from the Pennsylvania suburbs of Philadelphia. Right now, I'm single - but if the right woman came along, I'm open to that changing. Not employed right now, but might start my own business. I love dogs and have a 9-year-old German Shepherd mix named Reba. My biggest interests include music, politics, computers and the internet, watching sports, and reading. I'm very openminded with music, liking some stuff in the mainstream as well as indie. My favorite artist ever is the Beatles. I'm an enthusiastic and proudly liberal Democrat who goes to http://www.democraticunderground.com to discuss politics. Favorite books include classics, 1984, political books like Al Franken's, The Harry Potter series, and John Grisham books. I'm a fan of Penn State and the Philly professional sports teams. I'm spiritual, but not very religious. Finally, everyone have a great holiday season!
I'm back, not really, unfortunately I really don't have time to be a 'regular' anymore, but I certainly do try to keep up with the conversations around here, just not get in them. Later, everybody.

Hi everyone. I've been around here for a week or 2 now posting here and there. I guess it's time I properly introduce myself.
SDF is my initials with S being for Steve. I'm 28 years old and I live in everyone's favorite little city, Fresno, CA. I've been married for 4+ years with no children. We do have lots of animals though with a dog, 2 cats, 2 large fish tanks and a large hermit crab tank. I graduated from Fresno State in 2002 with a B.A. in Graphic Design. I had several design jobs before getting my current job with the leading utility company in California.
You will probably find me mostly on the music boards as that is my #1 area of interest. I don't listen to nearly as much as most people here (I have maybe 150 CDs), but I love what I do listen to. Also, I have zero technical knowledge of music or musical talent of my own, but I've learned to appreciate good artistic music when I hear it. Some of my favorites include Radiohead, Grandaddy, Sigur Ros, Smashing Pumpkins, and my all-time #1 (don't laugh!) ...Genesis.
Welcome to the site, Steve. I won't laugh because I'm so old that I've listened to most everything (and liked much of it at one time or another.) I just like what I like, and that's what these forums are all about, but if anybody (including you or me) gets pointed to something new which they like because of the forums, that's all I care about.
Post away, and don't be afraid to mingle in some of the other forums.
P.S. My daughter wasn't born until I was 35, and she's in high school now!

Hi, I really didn't notice there was an introduce-yourself thread until now so I thought I'd do the same as everyone else.
My name's Carlos, I'm 21 and I was born and raised in T.O. (that means Toronto). I actually found this website by accident while Googling something I can't even remember now. That was about a month ago, just before Christmas, and since then I haven't stopped posting.
I am currently in my third year at the University of Toronto doing a double major in Philosophy and Psychology. What I would do after I get my undergrad degree is still up in the air, really...but I've toyed with the idea of going into grad school. If I do, it would most likely lead to specializing in clinical psychology or counselling. But who knows. That's still a few years down the road so I try not to think about that right now and focus on matters at hand which is mainly getting good enough marks so I can get into grad school in the first place!
I love music a lot, and this would explain why I'm always on the music forums. I can listen to a bit of everything, but it's mostly hip-hop, soul, r&b, and latin grooves. It's gonna sound downright cheesy but back in highschool I hung out with some guys who were into the same music as I was (soul and r&b for instance) and we used to do quite a bit of vocalizing and harmonizing of some tracks in the stairwells at school because the acoustics and echos enhanced the harmonies I still do quite a bit of singing on my own, but um, I doubt I would take it seriously considering I have other priorities now.
Artwork is my second best hobby (after music), which consists mostly of my rough pencil and charcoal work. Before I finished high school it was a toss up whether I should go to university or an art college, but I thought it would be more practical to get a university degree and get a steady career. I have to admit it was initially to please the parents, but now I think I actually made the right choice.
I love the movie Scarface and Carlito's Way, so I guess you can deduce that I like Al Pacino. I also like JackAss coz it's downright dumb and stupid and you can just sit there and laugh your arse off without having to think about it too much to get it.
I too just realized this introduction thread existed. I also discovered this site through Google and have been pretty much addicted since. I’m 28, married, and have a 4 year old son. The day he was born, I called my father and apologized for everything. Anyone here with kids should understand.
I consider myself a tragic underachiever and I also have self diagnosed manic depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I’m a failed baseball player and I’ve been relegated to the slo-pitch softball beer leagues for the rest of eternity. It’s all I have and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I only passed high school because I had to and I hope I never need college: So far, so good.
My other hobbies include aquariums, poker, spades, dominoes, darts, billiards, coaching high school football, bike riding, snorkeling, drinking wine (recreationally), drinking beer (habitually), arguing, random sports, betting on anything that moves, and hiding from reality. Year after year, I watch my beloved Phillies lose and I always come back for more. I enjoy intelligent conversation but I still think it’s hilarious when a good fart clears the room.
Musically, I like what I like and what I like is what sounds good to me. Pink Floyd is my all time favorite and I feel that at this point of my life, they are locked in at #1. I also love Radiohead, The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Tea Party, Jimmy Buffett, Billy Joel, and too many others to mention. I think that without music, the world would be a cold and empty place. My wife complains that I can’t drive one mile without music and she’s right. I think that Pink Floyd – The Final Cut is as close to perfection as it gets. I’d review it but what could I say that Kurt Loder didn’t say for Rolling Stone in 1983: Yep, that Kurt Loder.
As far as movies are concerned, The Godfather isn’t perfect. Had James Caan’s punch not missed Carlo’s head by 2 feet during the trashcan/shoe/fist/foot beat down scene, it sure as hell would be perfect. After that, I love intelligent and witty movies. I like movies that make me want to cry but I hate being manipulated. Pulp Fiction is the one reason that I still have faith in Hollywood.
Other than that, I often think before I talk, and I hate when I’m wrong. I took it very hard when I realized that I wasn’t as smart as I thought I was. I’m not motivated by people that are better than me. If I can’t win, I usually don’t compete. I quit playing chess when I realized I couldn’t beat everyone on earth. Then I started again because I love the pain. I’ve been on 5 continents and seen things that I will never forget. I’ve been incredibly blessed and I don’t deserve the girl I married. I don’t understand existence and both religion and science scare me. I curse too much, drink too much, and I’ve done 2 things in my life that I can never take back. I try to make people laugh constantly and think that humor is essential to happiness. Happiness for others, that is, because it never makes me feel better. I won’t offend people on purpose, but often do anyway, and I try to live by the golden rule. Thanks for having me.

You're welcome, J Lo, or Little Bo Peep, or whatever the hell your name is.
I will start to post more over at Movies again. It's just that my computer crashed, and now that it's working again, I have to move. So P-Bo, you and all the other newer members go on over to Movies and post away, so that when I'm not so hectic, I can go over there and yell at you guys some more.

Salut! I've been posting her for a few weeks now and just noticed this thread.
I'm 28, and currently live in Helena, Montana. In the past five years I've lived in New York City, Dallas, Texas, Boulder, Colorado and now Montana. I'll be leaving Montana soon for greener pastures and am hoping to find someplace that's a nice amalgam of New York and Montana.
I went to college at Columbia U in NYC, with a degree in neuroscience. I briefly tried grad school in Boulder, but just couldn't hold with the whole decapitation of rats, among other things, so now I'm applying to law schools...
My passions are reading and listening to music, but I'm also an avid knitter and chain mailer. I enjoy writing, but always hate what I write, as I have a hard time reconciling my inner grammar freak with my requirement for original prose. I also ski whenever I can, both alpine and nordic.
Favorites and I just don't mesh properly, but music-wise, I'm currently enjoying Andrew Bird,Archer Prewitt, and the Russian Futurists.
...Book-wise, I read almost solely fiction, anywhere from 3-10 books a month, over a very broad spectrum, and I recently finished The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, The Hours, and Little, Big by John Crowley.
I'm opinionated, but try to keep an open mind, and I like to think that I can always be swayed by a good argument.
That should cover all the bases.

My posting has been quite rare in the past few months. My first year as a freshman in a private prep school is busying me up. I hope to be able to post more frequently in consecutive months.

I graduated from college last year and am in my first" real" job. Life's good in the city (Boston) and I am orginally from Wisconsin.
I love watching movies and watch 3-10 DVDs a week, depending on what's on TV. Also read a lot of blogs and love podcasts and would love to have my own podcast show one day!
I've been a member for quite some time, but never scrolled down past the music section of the forum until now to notice this
My name is Kevin. I'm 26 years old and enjoying the warm weather of Tampa, FL. I graduated a year ago from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's in Psychology. I currently have a cush job with a large steamship company. For some reason, I'm not given a whole lot of work to do, so I spend much of my time on the job listening to all the new cds I compulsively bought the weekend before.
I've always loved music (hence the name), but it wasn't until 1997 or so that I realized that there was a lot of great music other than that which is played on the radio. This occured to me back in June of '97, when I went to my then girlfriend's house for the first time, and the first thing she did was play me this album called OK Computer from this band called Radiohead that she bought the week before. Needless to say, this experience changed the way I searched for music. To this day, I'm still searching for the same feelings I had the first time I listened to OK Computer. And the funny thing is, that was the only band her and I shared a passion for; it just happened to be my favorite.

...I've written 2 novels and a few film scripts, and I just want to say that this whole piece is superb. Felicitaciones
