Im Audrey, 17 soon to be 18 (on the 15th) senior from Houston,Texas. I'm a raging Taurus whose into all types of music. Can't stand pop/punk bands and just got into rock music about a year and a half ago and just can't get enough of it. My favorites are Filter, Nine Inch Nails, AFI, System of a Down,Refused, Rage Against the Machine and most of 90s grunge.
I'm extremely opionated when it comes to politics and anything I'm passionate about so you minus well just consider yourself wrong but I always love a good arguement about something that really matters-keeps me on my toes because I plan to study law after high school.
I always had a love for music so I joined a jazz band a few years ago and play the trumpet. Oh and I also sing in it-depends on which gig. I also favor symphonic music and play the french horn.
RANDOM FACTS ABOUT MYSELF:
-What else...um...I bite my nails-I know. awful habit but I'm tying to stop.
-I'm an classic movie buff and have an infatuation for everything James Dean.
-Even though I'm from Texas -I don't dig country music all that much unless there's nothing else to listen to.
-I don't go trying to look for boyfriends but I do date and see what goes from there-something I decided after my last relationship.
-My families from Jamaica but I was born here so no I don't have an accent.
-My friends would say I'm a non stop party and can boogie anywhere, anytime -with or without music.
-I joined this forum mainly to meet new people and share my ideas.

Hello, i'm Antony. Live in a very dull place in the UK with only one small venue offering anything in the way of live music, entertainment and generally like minded people. Main interest is music with tastes varying from artists such as Dido, Bjork, Tori Amos, The Berzerker, Napalm Death, Michael Gira, Celldweller, The prodigy, Mesguggah, Pig Destroyer and don't mind the odd bit of hip-hop such as Atmosphere, MF Doom, Pharcyde and experimental things from the NinjaTunes label.
Literature wise, not a heavy reader (apart from the tabloids) but loved the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley and Northern Lights by Philip Pullman. Don't like anything too complicated as i will lose interest quickly and when i read a book i like to lose all ties with the real world and possibility not myself amongst the pages.
DVDs? I love them! Cinemas, despise!! British films i love, South West 9, Snatch, Monty Python, Nil by Mouth etc... Outside of my soil, Leon, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, thirteen, Pi and 50% of the 'blockbusters' that get released just for the easy watching value, though some do lack alot of credibility.
I also own an xbox, one day i am determined to complete a game on it, 26hous into Ninja Gaiden...like i said, one day!
Apart from all that stuff above, not much else to me, finished school at 16 and went straight into work. Best part of 4 years later and i'm still at the same place picking orders and doing general warehouse work. I'm a simple bloke, with a simple life, my soical ring is bigger online than it is offline and considering i can count the amount of people i regulary talk to on one hand should give you a good indication that i have a lazy approach to socialising and other aspects of life.

One last thing, if anyone finds a large lump of money just happening to be lying around, it's mine. Honest! Please return it if you find it.

The details of my life are quite inconsequential. My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen-year-old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims, like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. A sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. If I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds. Pretty standard, really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fifteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum.

Well now that you've explained it so clearly, I may have to agree with you. Now, cut the BS because the crap I left out of MY REAL life is better than THAT. Cool

P.S. If you disagree, post some of Vilma's diagrams (Farewell, My Lovely aka Murder, My Sweet.)

Hey, I'm yurimaru, (female despite the masculine name!). I'm 16 and I live in the middle of nowhere in the north east of scotland.
Currently still at school sitting exams in English, Geography, Modern Studies and History. My interests are music, reading , films . My musical taste is fairly diverse taking in classical, indie, 'alternative rock', all forms of metal, mainstream stuff, 60s pop, and I'm currently developing an interest in blues, motown, jazz etc. Favourite bands/singers at the moment are: Tool, Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails and Rory Gallagher. As far as books are concerned I read most things - some of my favorite authors are Oscar Wilde, Evelyn Waugh, Iain Banks and am currently quite enjoying the plays of Chekhov.

Thats about it really!

Hi all,

Where shall I begin? Well, my name is Brittney.
(Hence my username.) I am, obviously new to
the forums. I have been home schooled by
both of my parents throughout my entire
eighteen years of life. (In the state of Texas,
to be exact.) I, personally feel I have gained
quite a bit of moral standards for myself. (As
opposed to attending public school, I mean.)
I, as well enjoy creative writing in my spare
time.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of little wealth & taste...

Born & raised in south-central Indiana, have never lived anywhere but Indiana (scary thought, that).

I work in a warehouse and being single, I have somewhat more mullah to spend on cd's, which I do, though I try to buy used cd's as much as possible. In recent years I've become reclusive and were it not for my job, I'd hibernate 3 of the 4 seasons (I do love summer).

There are few kinds of music I don't like but these days I'm into surf instrumental, Afro-funk, garage/garage-punk and power pop, among other genres which will punish me for not mentioning them by name.

My favorite movies include "Donnie Darko" and the original "Walking Tall". I'm into anime films and any half-way good flick from Japan, Korea & Hong Kong. I love old horror flicks- the Universal monsters, the Hammer films with Lee & Cushing, the AIP movies with Vincent Price, almost any grade-B horror/sci-fi/fantasy film. I don't go to theatres much as couples & groups of pals disturb my concentration.

The only current TV show I watch is The Simpsons. I watch cable TV for movies but leave the major networks to themselves. The older tv shows I enjoy are "Xena Warrior Princess" ,"Dark Shadows" and the American trilogy of cornball humor, "The Beverly Hillbillies", "Green Acres" and "Petticoat Junction".

I read mysteries, sci-fi, horror and Kurt Vonnegutish kind of humor novels. Still read a few comics & mangas. My current favorite music zines are Mojo, The Ptolemaic Terrascope, Bucketful of Brains and Amplifier.

Two older siblings, both brothers, one's a shrink and the other's a forest ranger. My dad was a high school teacher before he passed in '94. My mom worked for the nearby university til she retired. She could testify how crazed I am but there's enough proof of that buried in my backyard (just kidding!). I own a cat or should I say my cat owns a human?

I have current crushes on Jennifer Connelly, Zhang Ziyi, Meg White, Danica Patrick and some chick who works in the warehouse but never notices me.

I tend to embarras myself more often than not. I don't think things out enough and I believe in too many conspiracy theories. I'm a town character but wouldn't have it any other way, unless I move to another town where I'd want to be dark, mysterious & brooding.

I've said too much about myself now & will probably deny some of what I've written.

I collect and own many DVD's and CD's.

Some of my favorite bands are:
Green Day, Death Cab For Cutie, Franz Ferdinand, Coldplay, The Killers, The Shins, Wolf Parade, Weezer, U2, and Modest Mouse.

Some of my favorite movies:
Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Million Dollar Baby, Shaun Of The Dead, Garden State, LOTR Trilogy, Sideways.

I also am a HUGE Yankee fan and have my own New York Yankee messageboard that I created and admin on.

Feel free to im me at BernieNYJeter374 to talk!

Hi

My name is Nabil, M, 24, based in Beirut, Lebanon.

I'm a freelance music producer and sound engineer, and drummer in a local indie rock band.

My musical tastes consist of electronica and post-rock, but today I mostly have an interest in the indie/ post-punk scene.
Some of my favourite artists are The Postal Service, The Bravery, Franz Ferdinand, The Libertines, and too many others to name.
Also into 70s prog, Krautrock, 80s synth pop.

Where I live is a musical wasteland (despite the presence of many unknown talents). Very few real gigs to check out as the local band scene is based on covers (and with absolutely no variety)
There is an outrageous lack of musical culture amongst musicians, which basically translates into "find 5 bands you like, and listen to them for the rest of your life". Sad but true.

I work with a small network of people struggling to promote original music and push it beyond national boundaries. Lebanon is a very small place. Everybody knows everyone, especially in the artistic fields, which is helpful but very annoying at the same time.

I'm not sure whatelse to say about myself, so it will eventually come out with time.

Nabil

Yikes! Thanks for sending me over here Mark F. Um... I'm a 31 year old dude... currently looking for work in San Francisco. My first love is jazz, but I got into jazz some 15 years ago through punk music. I also have a huge fondness for '60s rock, country, and reggae etc... in fact I barely believe in genres. The next CD I'm going to buy is the new eels album.

Take it easy...

Hi. I'm 25 years old and am a junior in college. Since high school I've taken two years off of school and worked in factories. When this semester concludes I will have gone full time to college for two years and inbetween those years I went part time for 2.5 years. I'm going to a liberal arts school and my major is interdisciplinary. My concentrations as of now are: Bible/Religion; Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies; and Psychology. I have a minor in History. At some point in my life I'd like to be a therapist.

My favorite kind of music now is folk and its offspring. I'm exploring blues with the likes of Son House, Mississippi John Hurt, and Taj Mahal. Live was my favorite group for a long time and I still listen to their music a lot.

My favorite kind of movies are the ones that make me think. I buy movies on line after reading reviews on sites like amazon, imd, allmovieguide, and Roger Ebert's site. My favorite comedies are "The 40 Year Old Virgin", "Shaun of the Dead", and perhaps "Dr. Strangelove..."

The Metacritic Forums have been a great source of procrastination this semester.
