One year ago today, the Metacritic Music Editor posted:

Welcome to our new discussion forums. Since so many of you have left user comments for us on our various movie, game and music pages, we realized that many of you have a lot to say. And now, you have a place to say it.
There may not be many posts yet, but hey--these forums are brand new, so what did you expect? So go ahead and start commenting about games, movies and music, and get the conversations started.
One year and 1368 members later, it's clear tht Metacritic visitors do have a lot to say. I've had a great time this first year. Thanks to the Editors for putting the forums up and giving us a place to hang out, but especially thanks to the members. You are truly the ones who make it all happen!

I agree.Overall this has been an enjoyable experience.I am hoping the year to come brings some more non-rock.folk.indie fans. Some more consistent chatter in the specialized groups would be nice. Overall this is my favorite forum to post on!!

Metacritic has probably become my favorite website, and I love the forums so much, because of all the great, intelligent, interesting people that I have "met," and discussed things (mostly movies) with.
But here today, the 12th of May, I shall make a pledge. A pledge swearing that, in this exciting upcoming year, I shall partake in more discussions in the Music section of the forum!!!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Happy anniversary to flem_snopes, who signed up for the forums one year ago today, making him our oldest active member. I have an obvious soft spot for the esteemed and extraordinarily knowledgeable f_s owing to our shared love of power pop, but I also love f_s' great selection in signature quotations.

Well, I don't know how many times I can say that I love this site, I guess you can just add one more time to the number of times I have already done it. The members, moderators...everybody, makes this site one of the most enjoyable experiences I have on the internet.
Thanks to:
The moderators, for making sure that any "Street Team" members are immediately deleted, and for adding to every discussion they take part it.
The members, for not implementing name-calling when someone disagrees and for having intelligence, something in short supply.

Today is a momentous anniversary for our forums. On this date, one year ago, mark f signed up. 2,037 posts later, I'd be hard pressed to name an individual who has had a greater influence and impact on these forums or has made a greater difference in making them such a great place to hang out.
It's also the anniversary of RayRay who may be one of the most consistently witty of our members, though he's not been around nearly enough lately.
The same goes for GoingToHell, Handsome Pete, joeybrash, Member 27, and Platypus Quest all of whom joined on this date in 2004 and have been great members each and every one.

Thanks, LT. I guess those checks (you wish) I keep sending are worth something. I'd like to thank everybody else here for contributing to the overall mature tone which we try to keep at these forums. I also hope that we don't crush too many people's feelings or OVERmoderate very often.

Dunno why, but I've always thought that flem_snopes was female.
It would be good if these boards had user profiles or something, with a gender field included.

I have two days' worth of anniversary wishes for Albert, ihgsoi, Mooninite, and pedro. They're not always the busiest posters, but their contributions have been good and well appreciated.
Karen also signed up one year ago today. I was afraid we'd lost her for a while, but just recently she's been a busy poster and I'm very grateful for that indeed.

Yes. If you click on a member's name while you are logged in, you get access to his/her public profile which includes things such as age, sex, location, etc.

Thanks, LT! And happy anniv to you as well... Wow, it's been a year already??? I guess I'm not as involved in actually contributing these days because there seem to be so many darned new people around these parts. I'm a Meta-Regular, and I wanted to make sure the forums got off to a good start. I'll chime in again when the spirit moves me... I hope alls well with y'all! -- R. R.

Wow, one year! And what a year it was. I don't post nearly enough, I'd say. This place is pretty awesome, but I often feel like I don't have anything relavent to say, what with all the raw intelligence around here. I'd say I'm among the youngest members here at 17, which isn't usual on the internet. On other forums I visit I usually feel pretty good about my own intelligence next to that of other posters. Not here.
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.
