Excellent suggestion, Megatron.

I will file it in the appropriate location.

(muffled sound of paper rustling and crumpling and the ping of paper hitting trash can)

DONE!

Oh...and for the record...I won't ever disrespect you by abbreviating your name to M or MT, but I can't call you "Lord" because I have no lord and the only "The" that I can recognize is the late Mel Torme. He was, and is, THE Velvet Fog.

OK, Lordy, I'll look into it, but first off, is MC supposed to rename the forums after "yours truly" or Megatron? Also, we need to know at least one urbane, sophisticated person, um, human from this planet, that this name change will bring to our table. Thanks for honoring us with your presence.

Can you tell me--us--when possibly the "Major. New. Upgrade." will come about?? And..will it affect the message boards as in delete the posts...?

From my understanding, the forums basically will not be affected. Since the upgrade didn't occur earlier this week, it apparently won't happen until Jan. 3, 2005. All the regular parts of MC will have an overhaul with new visual layouts and links. I'm told the user comments and ratings will especially be diferent, but we shall see.

Is the edit icon gone completely, bm, or does it simply not do anything?

I'm asking the question in the same spirit that I lift the hood of my car when it breaks down, not because I have any idea at all what I'm doing, but out of a desire to appear competent.

I think this is a job for the Metacritic Games Editor.

No eL T. You'll do. When I first log in, the edit icons do not appear. As reviewing previous posts is my first priority, this can be quite annoying.

Say hello to the games guys for me. They are watching my feather.

That's odd. I noticed that after metacritic had its recent makeover,(which by the way is very nice) many of the movie metascores have gone up 2 or 3 points...

I noticed that "Sideways" now has a 94, and I'm pretty sure before it was a 92, and "Before Sunset" and "The Incredibles" both have a 90, and I'm sure that before they were both in the 80's. What's goin' on?

We noticed when migrating the data over to the new site that the normalization formula was not functioning as it should, so we fixed it for the new site. The raw averages have not changed, but now that the normalization works (stretching the high scores a little higher, the low scores a little lower - making comparison easier) a few of those high scores are now higher. But, for example, if Sidways was higher than Bad Education on the old site, it will still be higher on the new site.

Did SMiLE and Van Lear Rose really beat out Stankonia? My big hope really was for something to knock that overlong, overrated, better-than-Speakerboxxx-but-not-as-good-as-The-Love-Below-and-overall-not-a-very-good-album Stankonia out of the top spot (Zeppelin doesn't count).

I posted this on the Best of 2004 page, but I'll ask again:

Why doesn't London Calling qualify for a Metacritic high score if the Talking Heads reissue counts?

Somebody clue me in!

I think it's called a MISTAKE! How about we dump both and get reacquainted with them on our own!

This is a general metacritic suggestion. I think that when you search a certain movie or actor it should come up with related results.

ex. I search Blahs

But the movie is actually blah, it would be more effectient if that result appeared as well as in imdb.

The Video Games cheats/help forum seems to have turned into a discussion of a single games. A Spongebob one, no less. I don't know if there is a way for the six or so topics to be consolidated, but something probably needs to be done.

This a problem which the Moderators actually have. We can move a thread to another forum, but not within the same one. Maybe if I moved all the Sponge Bob threads (except one) to different forums, I could turn around and move them all back into the SAME one here. I might experiment with that, if necessary, but I'll need your help Compman because I'm not sure which are the threads which are COMPLETELY the same. What about it, Editors?

I have two theories on why this has happened:

Google searches for the game pick up that forum.

or

Someone thinks it's funny.

As for handling it, all I can think of is to just delete all the topics, since few get any replies, and then make a new topic for all further questions.

If you search Google for "Spongebob Help" Our forum is near the top of the list. Seems possible, I suppose.

I just became a Jedi, who do I give my address to so I can get my lightsaber mailed to me? Oh, and although 1000 post seems like a lot, it is roughly only 5% of the total number of posts, this forum rocks!.

I think someone just played a joke on the forum. We had about three little kids on at the same time. I would suggest just deleted the threads, but that may be a knee-jerk reaction from someone who loves this forum and doesn't want it to turn into every single other forum on the web.
