I just thought we needed a topic about nothing. Where we can just post our thoughts, feelings, hello's, goodbyes, or even just what you are doing right now.

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
I am heading out of town for the Holiday's and I just wanted to say HAPPY THANKSGIVING! to everyone and I wish you all the best. Please be safe if you are travelling. See you all soon!

What's goin' on? Well, right now I am listening to Wilco (Thanks again LT) and trying to postpone doing my work. My ENC1101 teacher gave me a 1,000 word paper to write PLUS read Johnathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal" which isn't a bad story itself, but I have to answer like ten questions about it. Then I have a math quiz to do online. At least I have a long weekend! And I would just like to also wish everybody a safe and fun Thanksgiving. Drive safely those that are going and don't eat too much.

I'm sitting at home, in the middle of a St. Louis snowstorm, getting ready to grade about 30 biomedical ethics papers on truth-telling, medical privacy, and research on human subjects. Fun.
Turkey tomorrow with family in town, which should be nice. I look forward to the Seinfeld retrospective on NBC.
Be well, all!

Wow pE, hope it's not too bad down there. My sister and brother-in-law live in Maryville, Il just across the border. Guess they're getting hit too. Be safe down there. And yes, Seinfeld should be a good time. I just love the outtakes and gag reels. Hope they show lots of those.

Yes, nice topic... Been bug-testing the games section of Metacritic ver. 3.0 for the last few hours. The upgraded site "should be ready" in the next couple of weeks. Easier to navigate, new books section, etc. Getting ready for a traditional pre-Thanksgivining late Happy Hour later on tonight in Beverly Hills with the Music Editor, Film Editor (in town from San Francisco), and some friends of ours from school.
Have a great turkey-day all, and thanks for making these forums more diverting than I imagined they might be!

Golly Gee, I'm at Metacritic-ee. My wife just got home and wants to read a little. My daughter got home and was watching "Ellen". So here I am. I'm listenin' to "Rubber Factory" by the Black Keys, and pretty soon, we're all gonna watch the second-half of "The Terminal", which we started last night. I know some of you guys didn't think much of it, but the first half is both funny and sweet, so we'll see... (P.S.- My wife and daughter like it even more than I do.)
HAPPY TURKEY DAY EVERYBODY! I hope you all have things to be thankful for.

Let me echo MGE's wishes for a happy turkey day for all of the stateside members of our community and extend a big thanks to every member of this community for making it such a great place to hang.
We're going to visit my parents in Texas in a couple of weeks and up to Indy to meet up with my wife's folks tomorrow, so we had a rare day just to ourselves with no obligations aside from running, cooking, and eating. I generally handle duties in the kitchen, but when the whole day is free, she likes to make a day of it. For us it was a black-eyed pea stew, spicy pumpkin, and fennel leek mashed potatoes, plus an apple pie courtesy of one of her training buddies.
Tomorrow gets a bit crazy with family obligations. It will be good to see everybody, but for the moment a relaxing evening at home is awfully nice.

So how was everyone's Thanksgiving? What was your favorite food/dessert? My favorite is mashed potatoes with ranch dressing (if you've never tried it, it's amazing) and my favorite dessert is always pecan pie.

Mine was good. Or shall I say mine were good. I had one thanksgiving with each side of the family, one in Pittsburg, PA and one in NYC. They were both good. Mostly the one in Pittsburg because my grandma's cooking is great. We, surprisingly didnt have any mashed potatoes, we had this substitue that was like it but made of some ground up vegetable. It was even better than tators, and I love my tators. Also, i realized that I like cranberry sauce with turkey. The sweet and salty mix is great. The mashed potatoes and ranch dressing sounds interesting, Ill have to try it. My favorite dessert definitely was the cheesecake my gramma made. The crust was so perfect. hmmmmmmmmm... Right now Im on a four day weekend at school so Im writing a lot because I have nothing better to do.

My thanksgiving was nice, but the time off wasn't long enough. I went to a high school reunion - which I swore I would never do... But it was surprisingly fun. The power went out at my parent's house because of a storm so we had to relocate - either that or my dad wanted to cook the bird over a fire Not bad at all. Still eating the leftovers...

Right now I am sitting in front of my computer (obviously) and am very bored. I have been checking my emails like every thirty minutes because I have nothing better to do at the moment. After I finish writing this post about absolutely nothing, I will probably stare at my computer desktop for thirty minutes, I just cant wait!

I am sitting here, eating rice crispies (not exactly now because I am typing, but right before and right after) which are a major food group for most college kids. I need a nap, it is eleven and I have work at nine, maybe I should go to bed. Maybe I'll postpone it a little longer.

I have a supreme loathing for the human race, especially white men. We are the cause of everything bad that has ever happened in the history of humankind. DAMN YOU!!!
Ive never seen anyone use that color before. Kind've weird to put that in this discussion but whatever. I just ate sushi at one of those places where the sushi floats around everywhere. It was cool and good. It was my first time going to a place like that.

We didn't visit either of our families Thanksgiving Day. We spent much of the weekend that followed with my wife's family and are spending almost a week with mine later this month, so we had a rare day all to ourselves to do as we pleased.
I often do much of the cooking in our house, but when time allows my wife likes to make elaborate and wonderful meals, so I spent much of the day futzing around online while she made a black-eyed pea stew, spicy pumpkin, and leek fennel mashed potatoes.
I don't have a single favorite dessert, but I'm awfully partial to home made apple pie. My wife's principal training partner is a professional baker and brought us one of those the day before Thanksgiving, so that was a fine cap to a fine meal.
I'm batching it this weekend as she is in Portland, Oregon for the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships. I'm giving myself until 10 a.m. to get caught up here before I clean the house. If I'm good and get my chores done in a timely fashion, I'm spending the afternoon and early evening out with friends.
It's a cold morning in Bloomington and I just filled the bird feeder with fresh sunflower seeds. Now, where the heck are all my birdie pals?
Now Playing: NPR's Weekend Edition <-- Scott Simon is interviewing Minnie Driver about her new music album...I like Minnie Driver, but I don't much care for the album and I fear she's not coming off terribly well in this interview...

I find staring at the same old white font a little straining sometimes so I like to change it up. I still loathe myself, though. Two hundred years ago I'd be killing natives, owning blacks, and working asians to death on our railroad. We suck! Of course you'd have to think if any other race were dominant, they'd have been the same way. There is something fundamentally wrong with all humans.
