What Marx didn't predict was how the proletariat preferred liberal socialism (i.e. tiny changes like improved wages and benefits) instead of taking over the state.

marx's complements to capitalism were shamelessly self-serving. capitalism was only useful as a harbinger of better times ahead. remember, marx was a child of the enlightenment that believed man's innate goodness had been corrupted by a number of artificial forces.

communism was a natural progression towards a heaven on earth.

he objectified people as mere tools and objects within a larger master plan. therefore, its no surprise that he did NOT foresee the compromises and negotiations with the capitalists that would water down his mindless notions.

Mussolini was strongly against socialism and everything it stood for.

eventually he did turn against communists, anarchists, socialists, and the like, but he did start out as one, and its no small fact to note that he was for decades a die-hard radical who spouted the usual left-wing mumbo-jumbo.

You're trying way to hard to start an argument, syz.

yes, syzgy, you are trying way too hard to develop some kind of fight here.

You attempt to insult and bait me, knowing nothing about me, with your comment about 'safely warming up to my carefully preserved ignorance'.

Hilarious. How do you know my ignorance is preserved? Maybe it's pickled or stewed.....

Your last sentence doesn't make sense.

Man, no intelligent liberal is going to waste time arguing with you, so you may as well give it up. Smiler

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been,
Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene;
As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be,
So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

While I have some qualms about syzygy's revisionist history and obvious political leanings, I have to say that 9/11 conspiracy theorists are horribly misguided.
