I know that this will never be able to happen, but Ive been thinking that it would be really interesting if all the members here on the metacritic forum (at least the ones who really participate) actually met together in real life and everyone would actually see what everyone else is like.
I just think it would be really cool because It feels like i know a lot of people here, but really i dont know them at all. And like, i have this sort of mental picture of what different members are like just because of the way the things they write about, but im sure nobody is how i picture them to be. I just thought id share that.

That's actually not such a crazy idea. I've definitely heard of groups in certain chat rooms getting together... This strong clique from the Movies1 boards on Yahoo met up in Vegas a couple of years ago. I never heard what happened when they all met, but the strange thing is that NONE of them ever showed up on those boards again... hmmmm.... Very strange...

RayRay is right. It's not actually all that crazy an idea, kd.
Heather and I hang around a number of online running forums. We've met quite a few virtual friends over the years at various races.
The big problem is logistics. With over 30,000 runners in the Boston Marathon, for instance, it's a good bet a sizeable minority of members of an online running community will be there each year, so gatherings are easy to arrange.
Pictures are a totally different matter, though. I'm the guy on the right in the blue shirt.
Is that how you pictured me?

Ummm...uhh...hmmm...err..well uh... see...hmm...well the thing is ...LinnTate, uhh...I kind of thought that you were a woman. Just because of your name. Thanks for clarifying that for me. So no, thats not how i pictured you.
But thats a good idea. Do any other people have pictures of themselves online? Or pictures that they could put online. Id like to see what people look like.

Since LT is one of my best friends, even though I've never seen him before, I would have said that I would have picked him as the Blue Crew's spokesman. Of course, he disagreed with me about Bradley and Lima, which means that one of us is Super-homey, or Super-blind, but that's entirely irrelevant!
Yes, I live in O.C. in Cal, and even LT is going to come next July (?), so maybe we can get more than hal over here!? RayRay, MC Games, MC Music, KT, kraftdeluxe, know-it-all, and anybody else who thinks they might be hangin' in So. Cal next July. Private message me or something!

Wow LT, I hadn't even paid attention to the website that your link took me to until pE posted your quote. Are you from Iowa? I'm from Cedar Falls, IA (living in SD now) and went to UNI for a few years.
I wish I could say I was gonna be out west to hang with you guys, but that is quite a trip for us. I do have relatives in the area though. A couple of my great-aunts live in Trona, headin' out east into the Mojave (pronounced Mo-Jave of course). I got to visit them out there a couple years ago and loved it. Made a stop afterwords in Hollywood to see Episode II at the Chinese Theater. My first All-digital experience. AMAZING!

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
Hmmm...I could see how pE's comment could get people's attention.
No, JtB, I'm not from Iowa. My wife attended undergrad in Grinnell. She has tought and directed there since she graduated. We like to visit when we can. It's a lovely state and we like the extremely small town pace for a getaway, which is what brought us to Grinnell that particular weekend. She has decided along with her coach and team to focus on cross country races this fall, so she kicked off the season with the Les Duke Invitational, which is held in Grinnell.
It was a fun weekend.

Whoa I was so sure LinnTate was female too! Wierd...
Hey, LT, that's not fair. You keep "faking" members out. I don't get it. I've never known a female named Linn, but maybe that's my loss. I mean, there is a famous restaurant/bakery/store in Cambria, CA, called "Linn's", but I've just taken it for granted that was a last name. Now I guess I'll have to come up with a digital picture which proves I'm a woman!
LT, is that Heather in the ultimate foreground of your pic? Also, did you get that message I sent to you and hal about July 2005 Shindig. Maybe you don't have dates and locations yet, but we need them ASAP, believe it or not. Go Cards!

Yes, mark, that's Heather. It was a funny race. With little experience in cross country, she planned to run a conservative race and stay with the lead pack most of the way. 400 meters into the 6,000 meter race, she decided to pick it up a bit and nobody joined her, so she ended up running the entire distance and finishing with anywhere from a 45-second to a minute lead. It was her own Joan Benoit Samuelson moment, I guess.

Cute! (and sorry for the suggestion that you might have been spamming in the Killers thread yesterday... you never know when there's a new person in the forums promoting another website, etc.)
Thanks for joining us! Stick around...
