So we're meat machines, then. Meat computers with appendages. The difference is not terribly substantial, especially when all we are talking about is the "meaning of life."

It's a great comparison. All any of us really are is a mass of meat run by trillions of electrical and chemical synapses.

Okay, this thread is entitled "Purpose of Life," I'm sure we can collectively agree that one can give meaning to their life, personally, by improving the lives of others. That is, positive experiences with other people. Doing what you love to do, whatever that is, and enjoying life. Regardless of where you are at in your life, or how useless it may seem. I'm sure that most of us have people who would be greatly affected were we to perish and even if that isn't the case, what about the people whom you haven't met yet?

I don't believe that we as a species have a purpose. If we did, I doubt we have the capabilites to actually learn it.

My computer comment was more of a creator/created relationship question than anything else. Let's say you believe in God, we would have been created by God in the same way that we have created computers. Computers weren't built to contemplate their own existence, and hence don't have the ability to question it, we would exist in the same fashion.

We might be wasting time thinking about it so much, we probably are. The purpose of life is to enjoy it until it is over. Enjoy the ride, so to speak. Step past the narcissistic we have and get away from our mentalities of misanthropy and nihilism. Sure, life sucks sometimes, but only because we let the little things bother us. The fact that we have something to upset us should only be a reminder that life is overall pretty enjoyable. Don't let the little things bother us, every moment we spend being pissed off that we exist is one that could have been spent happy. Sure our lives are probably pointless, our collective existence doesn't really change much, so what? We're here, we're queer, deal with it.

Just be happy with what you've got and thankful that you've got a life to enjoy.
We are directly responsible for how much we enjoy our lives. Stay positive, don't stress about the little things, about anything really. It doesn't matter really, you won't be here long enough that you have time to waste.

Well that was a rant, but it had good intentions. Be happy, no one else can do it for you.

Or you can think like Hobbes: the purpose of life is to stay alive because human being fears death...

I'm not going back to check, but if you don't think the purpose of life is to be happy and to make all those you know happy, I'll just say, "God Bless!" (HA!!)

OR, if your life long dream is to be some sort of diabolical super villain it could be the complete opposite!

Confused Confused Confused
Personally, I thought that was the most relevant contribution I've made to any discussion on this forum in the last month.
