I'm with you. I hate the Doobie Bros. I may hate Chicago more, but I don't think they'd qualify for classic rock.

Chicago's at least got "25 or 6 to 4", which I think is a great tune.

I don't know if the Doobies are my absolute least favorite, but they came to mind quickly. If you listen to a lot of classic rock radio, they're so ubiquitous, and I can't think of any DB tune I love, or any that I'd consider above average.

I do like Self's cover of "What A Fool Believes", so maybe that's a good song, but Michael McDonald's white-man-soul voice keeps me from enjoying the original.

While I'm not a huge fan of either (Chicago or the Doobies) I'll stand by two albums in both of their discographies. The Doobies' Toulouse Street and The Capatain and Me and Chicago's Chicago Transit Authority and Chicago II. However both of these bands went on to make a ton of really, really bad records and Michael McDonald and Peter Cetera are two of the most annoying people on the planet and should not be forgiven for the ilk they've given the world.

Now, where were we? Ah yes, hair metal.

1. "Beth"
2. Anything gothic.

Favorite box set.

Least favorite critic.

I like the first two Chicago albums, but I like all five Doobie Brothers albums before McDonald showed up. After that, I didn't care because most of the guitar crunch of "China Grove" and the cool country touches of "Black Water" were gone.

Just to chime in, all of the Doobie Brothers' albums are killer. If you don't at least like "Listen to the Music" then something is wrong with you!

In case you weren't aware, this is the origin of "What a Fool Believes". A truly remarkable story.
