One thing that I especially like about the Metacritic Forums is that there are so few members comparisant to other forums so you know everyone responding. You know how to respond. You can feel like you're more part of it. You dont get 100 responses within a day.

Now, obviously the amount of members is growing, do you think that metacritic will become a huge site and have 1000+++ members? There were less than 300 when I came, now there are 754.

Its one of the things that make the forums special, so Im not saying that new people shouldnt come, Im just saying that it right ruin the "feeling" of the forums.

I think this site will grow, but slowly, and won't approach the enourmous size of many other forums.

Actually, one of the reasons I joined was because I thought it would be interesting to watch this community develop.

Yeah that makes it cool, not having so many people. The site will certainly be above the 1,000 mark soon. But when you look at the 754 members you also have to take into account all of the spammers, who only post once. I actually think that it might be a good idea if there was a way to make a new member post 5-10 times before they can start a discussion, to discourage the spammers.

Its true that lots of people only post a couple times, either they are spammers or they just dont care much for the forums.

About the 5 post policy, what if someone is posting a quetsion, they would have to answer five things before they could do so. I understand your point though how it would discourage spammers.

I would also like to see the community develop, but in a way I wouldnt, as to how I mentioned it before.

Half of the questions these people ask they can just google. I really don't see why people even bother asking the forum goers questions that can be discovered with a simple search engine. Here are two examples of this laziness:

GTA advance help
Schoolwork help

Yes, it is true. I go to the IMDB forums once and a while and they seriously have an average of a new post each second. Its crazy. Theres no way to navigate. Its just too huge. I think the forums here are perfect size.

Oops. I feel a little unwelcome. Well, what's good about this forum is that all memebers should obey the site's guidelines. Is it strictly enforced though? Well, it looks good to me so far.

Oh you are in no way unwelcomed. We are glad to invite anyone to the metacritic forums, at least I am. I doubt by adding one member anyways, this environment would change negatively at all. Mostly when the new member contributes positive and uplifting posts. Welcome to the metacritic forums!

Yeah, a smaller forum perhaps does promote inimacy, but I also find I am waiting long stretches for people to post an opinion of any sort that I can respond to. I too, look forward to this forum growing in the future and I think that the five post rule is a good one also. If a person is fair dinkum they won't worry about having to post a few times to get into the rythm. Hell, for myself, I must have posted summitt like 10 replies before I even considered posting a topic.

I don't think a 5 post rule would be necessary. We (especially LinnTate) all have good noses for SPAM, and the moderators should just have a quicker "delete" trigger on the stuff that violates the rules, so that we're not necessarily as suspicious about the new people. Moral of the story: new blood is good.

Wow, it's amazing how many posts some people can make. Our new friend burningman is already a Know-It-All in what, 9 days. That's pretty good. And I remember when Mike, who now has the 4th or 5th most posts on the site, became a Know-it-All in like 2 days.

Im uber excited (thats the most overused word, uber) about the growth of the Metacritic community. I was one of the first members and am astonished by how much it has grown in less than a year. Looking forward to the new Books section (and Book forums I presume) and whatever extra goodies the Metacritic Editors have in store for us.

Yes, mostly recently I have seen the growth of the forums. There are more like 15+ posts a day in the movie section and before I remember I would wait 1, maybe even 2 days for one post to be made. I like it like this in a way, more subjects to respond to and more responses from your subjects.

Maybe I shouldn't spill the beans, but the site will have a major makeover very soon, and hopefully it will be to everyone's liking. I don't actually know what it will look like, but hopefully once we get used to it, we'll enjoy it. THIS is supposed to make you HAPPY!, not APPREHENSIVE!

I've been a know-it-all in my head for more lifetimes than you can imagine. If the action was a little more intense around here, it be up to an even higher ranking. I like this stop, even though I gotta wait a long time for a tram sometimes.

Oops there's another post, what's that make me now?

I'm glad to see I'm considered a friend 'round these parts. You guys.......

Really, I'm just using this site to increase my typing skills, and as an extra bonus, Mark F is helping me with my language skills.

I'll add to the drama by saying that I know what mark's talking about and he's right...you're gonna like it, na na na boo boo.

Try torturing me if you like...I've been tortured and I didn't crack. I've sat through enough bad live college rock bands to kill a lesser man...
