OK, so I am going to go on a rant here, this might make some people angry but it’s really getting annoying.
What the heck is up with those sleaze-ball Patriots running up the score on everyone they play this season? So yeah, the Redskins aren’t as good as their record shows but this game was over after halftime. It’s 31-0 and the Patriots score a defensive touchdown, congratulations. They get the ball back and oh, what a surprise; here comes Tom Brady and the entire starting offense back on the field. They march down the field like if they are losing 28-14 and if you didn’t see the score (38-0) and the time left (about eight minutes left in the 3rd) you would think this was some highly competitive game with the way the Patriots play. Then the Redskins actually stop them and it’s 4th and 1—kick the field goal right? Nah, let’s go for it. But why? Well, because we are the damn Patriots and we need to score as much as we can. So they go for it and to no one’s surprise it’s one of those ugly-looking sneaks that Brady runs where he bends over and rams his head in between two linemen’s butts for the first down. So, indubitably, they score the touchdown and are now up 45-0. But why the heck is Brady still even playing? What do they gain from pounding this very mediocre Redskins’ team? What do they have to prove? It really doesn’t make any sense. If Brady does break the record for most TD passes in one year, he won’t deserve it. All do they is throw the dang ball and they always run up the score.
I hope and I will definitely bet that the Colts beat them next week. They are a bunch of cocky, overrated, stuck-up losers that deserve a good butt-whipping. Though I doubt the Colts will embarrass them, it will be nice when the Patriots lose.

You mean "if." I seriously doubt any team, past or present, is as good as the Patriots are. They are seriously unstoppable. I think, though the Colts will do better against this team and will prevent the Patriots from tearing them apart, will fall under pressure to keep up with the Pats defense, not the offense.
About the scores, I object to your framing Tom Brady as the culprit and the profiteer. He's very modest; he credits only his wide receivers. Where do those receivers come from? The general manager picked them up, as well as a slew of other defensive and offensive stars. I would argue that the Patriots have been waiting for this moment for years. The stars have aligned (both figuratively as in real stars, and literally as in the Patriots collecting a bunch of talent) and this is the year I see a team going undefeated. I'm wandering, though. Remember what happened last week when they pulled Tom Brady? Matt Cassel promptly threw an interception for a touchdown and Miami scored three touchdowns. Imagine what would have happened if they didn't put Brady back in. One less touchdown for NE and another one for Miami and you're talking a one-touchdown game. The truth is, the Patriots may need to stay in high gear or they risk giving up the game. Remember that the score was 42-7. If they had put in their backups at halftime and the Patriots played like they did when they had backups in then Miami would have won, 49-42. Here's a snippet from the NFL's recap:
quote:
When Taylor intercepted Cassel's second pass and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown to make the score 42-21, Patriots coach Bill Belichick sent Brady back in.
"I did it because of the score," Belichick said. "One more turnover, and then it's a 14-point game in the middle of the fourth quarter."
Now, I'm not arguing that the Patriots are justified in blasting their opponents out of the water. I may just be playing devil's advocate or supporting my birthplace team. But the Patriots seem bent on breaking records, whether they intend to or not. They still feel they have lots of room to improve, though. Observe:
quote:
Tom Brady: It's a long season. It's not even November yet and we've got a lot of room for improvement left.
Those guys are making the plays. I'm just throwing it. They're making my job awful easy.
The Patriots aren't a perfect team, and they don't think so either. And, in my opinion, what keeps them from being 'flaunt-y' is their teamwork. Last year, when the Patriots had a tough season (in terms of the Patriots, that is) there was no bickering, no dissent. This year, there's no one calling for more carries or catches. Would you believe that Wes Welker has 56 catches on the year? He's a SLOT receiver and he's having a career season. Randy Moss is, well, Randy Moss, and is on pace for 1500, 1600 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns. The Pats have a running game, too, contrary to popular belief, and they've spread it around very well. In the past few weeks, there's been a lull, but that's due to the profound lack of running game when you lose your #1 and #2 running backs. Even Kevin Faulk played OK in their absence, and he's the 3rd down and 3rd string back. Credit also the offensive line for protecting Brady so well that he's only been pressured (has he been pressured this year?) into 2 interceptions through 8 games, and one was a throw off the hands of a New England receiver and should have been caught. Credit everyone on the Patriots offense, as well as the defense which has given the offense some of the best field position in the league, leading to 38 offensive touchdowns, as well as 3 defensive and 2 special teams touchdowns, making a total of 43 touchdowns as opposed to only 10 field goals. The Patriots score when they get the ball. That's all there is to it. The defense forces turnovers, and, oh, is one of two teams to not allow ANY 40+ yard gains this year. This YEAR.
Credit all of the Patriots for playing great, and blame them all if you want, but don't put it all on Tom Brady. Or Bill Belichick.
That's just my opinion.

The NFL will eventually take over the world. This is the truth. Most people think that Walmart or Microsoft will. Or China. But no. Why was it necessary to have a game in London? Not that I'm interested in watching EITHER the Dolphins or the Giants, so I'm glad they could find an audience somewhere. But what if it was the other way around - they pushed football on us. *shudders*. Oh wait, the MLS already did that with Beckham.

You must be giving the Patriots all of the benefit of the doubt then. But let’s get one thing straight, Bill Belichick is anything but modest and humble—same goes for Tom Brady. Anybody that has been following football for at least the past ten years knows that Belichick is an arrogant, conceited guy. They hate to lose and it isn’t even one of those “I’m a competitor” no, they hate to lose because they honestly feel that they are better than everyone else.
You may buy into it but I don’t buy that the quote you posted from Brady was genuine. That’s just some guy trying to make himself look cool and modest while trying to dress cute for the ladies.
If you don’t think they are hoping that they cream the Colts—after three straight losses to them—then you are fooling yourself. Trust me, they will try to pull all the stops and if they get ahead, they are going to run up the score.

As a Colts fan, I automatically would like to see the Pats go down in some way. They beat us down for years, so there's some resentment there. And yeah, Belichick is definitely a cocky guy. However, aside from Randy Moss who's flaws and antics are obvious, I've never had a problem with any of their players personally. I'll point back to Sinister's comment about last year: even when they weren't having a great season (again, by their standards) there was no drama on the team, no arrests off of the field, and most importantly no giving up. They ended up just a few plays away from another championship, assuming that they would've handled the Bears easily enough. That's pretty impressive considering that most people thought the Patriot dynasty was over. Now their back this year and better then they've ever been.
Still, I'm in no hurry to hand the trophy over to the Patriots, and I can't understand why a lot of people seem to be. The Colts outscored four good opponents in a row by 131 - 48.

Sadly, I think our season is over. When a team leader like Ray Lewis (love him or hate him, there is no question he is a leader) questions the coaching publicly, the season is done.
