On a tangentially related note, there was some great (sad) footage of Donald Rumsfeld being blistered with tough questions from soliders. The Daily Show (for Thursday December 9th) had some hilarious bits about it.
It was nice to see the soldiers putting him on the spot for lack of proper equipment and staffing. And it was sad to see him unable to adequately respond to legitimate questions and concerns. I am repeatedly baffled by the inability of many of those in the current administration to deal with criticism...he's the SECRETARY OF DEFENSE!!! Shouldn't he be able to handle some tough questions from his own soldiers?

too bad a newspaper reporter supplied a few troops with misleading and inappropriate questions.
They were untrue.Something about picking up scrap metal just to protect themselves and whatnot.
I hope they are getting taken care of.And i am glad that issue came to the forefront.Even if the question was placed by a reporter through an army officer.

I personally don't think that it matters who created the questions. Is our friggin' secretary of defense unable to answer difficult questions from a reporter? I hope not...first he said he didn't "hear" the first part of the troop's question, then said "It's essentially a matter of physics, not a matter of money" and after another hard question he said that he is is "old" and had to get up early in the morning. What a joke.

The big gaff was him saying "you go to war with the army you have, not the army you wish to have down the road." They've been in Irag for 18 months. I really don't think you can say something like that now and have anyone not stuble over it. Hummers in Irag have gone nothing but up since they got there so the armory is having trouble keeping up with the kits. They'll surely get it together now.
